Publisher's summary

In Whiskey Sour, Chicago police Lieutenant Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels hunted down a killer dubbed "The Gingerbread Man."

In Bloody Mary, she busted a psychopath with a penchant for dismemberment.

In Rusty Nail, it was a serial killer with a doozy of a family tree.

And now, in Dirty Martini, Jack faces her toughest adversary yet: a sicko who's poisoning the city's food supply. But that's just the start of what he has planned, because he's aiming to kill fifty thousand people in the single biggest act of terrorism the US has ever seen. Can she stop him—and decide whether to accept boyfriend Latham's surprise proposal—without destroying both her reputation and her sanity?

Join Jack, her partner Herb, and her nemesis Harry McGlade, for her fourth, and greatest, case so far.

Crack another case with Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels.

Great Detective Series

I highly recommend this detective series. I am looking forward to reading the extra books you can get based on the characters in this series. After reading a lot of reviews there were a lot of complaints concerning the amount of violence. I actually think it makes for a more exciting book in this series but I don't always think that way. I do like that the books are not based around sex or sex scenes. Although they all have some romance and personal relationships and friendships. I really like that all the characters stay true to their intended personalities throughout the series of books. I highly recommend reading in order although it is not necessary but I feel it does make for more enjoyable experience. It is interesting that I feel the writer trying new things and growing in his writing as the series develop. Also you must try the audible version! The same actors play the characters throughout the series, keeping to the same voices for each character doing a incredibly good job for a audiobook. Some audiobooks I end up not listening to because of the bad job some readers do along with fake accents, forgetting which character has which voice, mispronounciation, awful sound affects, loud music, etc. I do notice audible (and the audio on kindle books) does a good job(so far). I like that they don't try to add "sound effects" and music etc. throughout books. Especially as someone who has noise deafness because that make it hard to listen to books.

Good Performance by readers

I like the Jack Daniels books and this has to be the best performance by the readers that I've heard. The scenes with Jack and Harry at the end are great and funny.

More laughs in this one - consistently enjoyable

I enjoyed this book - it is pretty consistent with the rest of the books so far except ...

It got a little silly and cinematic at the conclusion. Helicopter was over the top. I laughed out loud more during this book than during previous books. I didn't mind the bit of jumping the shark that happened during this book because I am still hooked on following Jack and her friends through their personal growth.

Narration remains the same as in earlier books - a good fit for the characters and the writing style.

This far into the series with as many books as are in it ... it is worth the time and I've enjoyed it - but glad for the option of kindle unlimited/whyspersync for reduced pricing. Not 100% that I'd be spending credits at this point.

Four books in and still going strong

The series is consistent in how strong the writing is. Character driven, interesting, and with well-developed antagonists. Four books in and still going strong.

Excessive violence

The story is very good yet too violent for my taste. I enjoy the comedy which is balanced against the violent aspects. I enjoy the development of the main character through the series. Her inner dialogue is also a highlight of the series. The character of her former partner is unnecessarily crude.

Boom!

I enjoyed this book. The detectives were constantly being challenged by a serial killer. Just when you think you will be able to catch your breath...boom another problem arises.

Great story but hard to listen to

Story was great, funny at times. Volume terrible - one male actor voice WAY TOO QUIET especially if listening in the car (competing with road noise). Audio tech needs to modify audiobook to create more consistent volume throughout. Otherwise the dialogue is too quiet AND blaring when the other actors speak.
