About this listen

Young lawyer Jonathan Harker journeys to Transylvania to meet with the mysterious Count Dracula only to discover that his nobleman client is a vampire who is thirsty for new blood. After imprisoning Harker in his castle, Dracula travels to England to seduce Jonathan's fiancée, Mina, and the battle against an ineffable evil begins.

Led by philosopher and metaphysician Professor Van Helsing - Dracula's most indomitable adversary - Harker, Mina, and a band of allies unite, determined to confront and destroy the Count before he can escape.

Bram Stoker ingeniously modernized gothic folklore by moving his vampire from traditional castle ruins to modern England. With Dracula, which has been interpreted and dissected by scholars for generations, Stoker changed the vampire novel forever.

Revised edition: Previously published as Dracula, this edition of Dracula (AmazonClassics Edition) includes editorial revisions.

Classic in every way!

These vampires don't glitter, but the characters shine! Epic and innovative for its time. Well read too! You won't regret investing the time to listen.

Great Voice Acting--Pulled off many accents

Perfect at doing, Texan, Romanian, Dutch, and Female accents and voices! His voice was clear, as well. I'm truly impressed with him doing Quincy--the Texan--could've fooled me with the Southern accent!

So Much Better than I Thought

The story is like a summer blockbuster movie written by a great writer of the Victorian era. The performance was largely great (the American accent could have used a little work), and it kept me entirely engaged. It's hard to make an epistolary novel's chase scenes work, and even harder to do so when it involves boats, carriages, and horses, but Stoker's writing and Sandys' performance literally had my heart racing at the climax of the book.

Outstanding narration!

I wish I could give this extra points. I'm amazed at the versatility of Mr. Sandy's talent. The story is, of course, classicly exquisite!

Creepy, Enthralling and Endearing

There are a couple dry spots in the middle but plenty of dramatic irony to keep you listening.

A wonderful story from various perspectives

The entire story of Dracula is told through the letters and journals of the main characters, giving many perspectives and points of view that are important for adding emotion to the characters. Nick Sandys gives each character their own voice, making it easy to understand who is talking or speaking their mind as the book transitions from one person to the next. Overall, this was a wonderful story to listen to, especially during Halloween time~ :)

if you like cartoons you'll love the narration

if you like cartoons you'll love the narration here. you'll meet Boris and Natasha, Count von Count, Huckleberry Hound, Mary Poppins' boyfriend Bert, but it's Charlie Chan as Van Helsing that takes the fortune cookie.
