About this listen

Sick of feeling heartbroken over her most recent breakup and underwhelmed by the rest of her life, Tiffany Peón decided to embark on a social experiment. Over the course of one year, she used 14 different online dating sites including Craigslist, speed dating, and The Atlasphere, a site for fans of Ayn Rand. Through drunken interactions with strangers, she learned the ins and outs of the online dating world and eventually found her way back to the relationship that started it all.

Editorial reviews

Sick of heartbreak and bodega sandwiches, Tiffany Peón decided that the best antidote to a crappy year was to go on dates using 14 different online dating services, from Craigslist to Blendr. Narrator Mia Chiaromonte adds a slightly acerbic edge to her warm, likeable voice as she performs Tiffany's stories about fumbling through dates, including one with a foot fetishist and several with men who look very different from their photographs. Tiffany learns a lot about the online dating world through her drunken interactions, and Chiaromonte expresses her youthful jadedness with relish.

I’m going down the pick up artist (PUA) path for a little while. I’m going through several books during COVID and I plan to put in the time and energy to find a dream relationship and hopefully get married within the next few years.

It won’t hurt going through this. It wasn’t great. It’s still worth going through this though. The author came across as a little snarky, but honest. Basically she’s the type you find in Los Angeles (home for me). Reason I liked this is because you get inside the author’s head and see how she thinks.

The narrator sounded stuck up! I’ve heard way better narrations. I still kinda liked it though. It came across as authentic, and she seemed a little b**chy. The narrator went good with the content.

I hate leaving bad reviews. As an aspiring author, I wouldn’t want people leaving bad reviews for me. Truthfully, this didn’t hold my attention. It wasn’t great. It won’t turn you into an expert. It will, however, give you an honest and broad overview of some online dating from a snooty, but honest, girl’s perspective, and you may never come across that again. So I do recommend it!

Worth going through. I liked her authenticity

Tiffany Peon's writing is humorous and Mia Chiaromonte uses a droll understated tone to convey the essence of the words. As this genre of book practically mandates a snarky, sarcastic tone there are times when the author's rendition of these dates can come off as unkind; if not cruel. On the other hand her humor is understated and there doesn't seem to be many gratuitous shots taken at the men. Interwoven into this scenario is the author's resumption of her affair with her ex boyfriend Chris. Given the cost this audio is an excellent listening choice if you desire 105 minutes of entertaining escapism.

Amusing and Sarcastic

Interesting enough but not funny. I mean there were a few ha-ha’s but definitely not enough for my expectations. This was not what I was looking for, wanted,or needed.

Not what I was looking for

As someone who has used online dating to find my significant other, I appreciate Tiffany Peon’s examination of the phenomenon. Without spoiling anything, I can say cost of the sites seems to parallel quality of the potential partners you meet on each. I recommend this book to anyone who has experienced the pitfalls and rewards or is considering braving the hazards of online dating.

Excellent look at online dating

I wish the author would have listed more sites. Just her view point was very off putting. Read/listen to know what not to do. She had some good points, but this was not a book that I enjoyed.

Not what I expected

I tried so hard to get through each chapter. It was just so boring. Sorry.
