About this listen
“Compulsively readable, Drop Dead Sisters is perfect for readers who love shows like Bad Sisters and Dead to Me. A mystery about three estranged sisters who accidentally kill someone? Yes, please.”—Mindy Kaling
Three sisters reunite on a family vacation and rekindle their relationship the only way they know how—by covering each other’s tracks in a real-life murder mystery not even they can figure out.
Remi Finch has spent the better part of her adult life avoiding family—especially her sisters. They just don’t click. Besides, her unconventional upbringing and major anxiety have convinced Remi that she can’t build a relationship with anyone. Period.
When her parents plan a family reunion camping trip to celebrate their anniversary, Remi’s willing to reconnect, if only because she doesn’t have a choice. But then a dead body turns up at their campsite, and their sisterly bonding kicks into high gear.
No one knows the whole story, but the Finch women are prepared to cover up the pieces before anyone tries to put them together. It’s a precautionary measure, probably unnecessary. Nobody else was there, so how could they have seen anything?
Between old grudges and new dynamics, a handsome park ranger, and a body that won’t stay hidden, Remi is about to learn that nothing strengthens family ties quite like crime.

Story
The next step in Ellie Baker’s marriage: divorce. She and her husband, Jonah, are heading to Florida to break it to the family. No great drama to share. After twenty years of marriage, they’ve just fallen out of love. Simple. Not to their college-age daughter, Maggie, who is devastated. Or to Ellie’s father, Frank, who grows as cold as a retiree can get in Orlando. As for Ellie’s mother, Bunny: no, no, no. She doesn’t want to hear it. After a dreadful weekend, Ellie and Jonah return home to New Jersey with hearts and minds still set on a split.

A city girl leaves her life behind in LA to start over in a small town… It’s a cliché, but it’s also Amelia Taylor’s life. And her new life as a romance novelist and motelier is going great—until Nathan Hart checks in. Of course he’s disastrously handsome, thoroughly disagreeable, and seems to be set against Amelia on sight. Of course there’s smoldering tension between them that can’t be ignored. They’d make the perfect enemies to lovers story. It’s one of Amelia’s favorite tropes.

Lucas knows the perfect night entails just three things: video games, wine, and pad thai. Peanuts are a must! Other people? Not so much. Why complicate things when he’s happy alone? Then one day the apartment board, a vexing trio of authority, rings his doorbell. And Lucas’s solitude takes a startling hike. They demand to see his frying pan. Someone left one next to the recycling room overnight, and instead of removing the errant object, as Lucas suggests, they insist on finding the guilty party. But their plan backfires. Colossally.

Critic reviews
“Soneela Nankani expressively performs this heartfelt and humorous family drama, making it a compulsive listen.… Nankani uses well-timed pauses to express sarcasm and add to the comedic effect. She provides great character differentiation of the family members. Hopeful tones reflect the sisters' determination to get through the weekend.”—AudioFile Magazine
“Three siblings scramble to dispose of a dead body in this delightful mystery debut… Coombs laces the proceedings with plenty of black humor, à la Alfred Hitchcock’s The Trouble with Harry, and works in surprisingly moving meditations on sisterhood. Here’s hoping a sequel is in the works.”—Publishers Weekly (starred review)
“[Amelia Diane] Coombs makes her adult debut with this delightful series starter with Hiassen-level wacky characters and plot twists and a heroine readers will root for.”—Booklist

To keep the best man from embarrassing himself (and the newlyweds), Nate uses his list of don’ts: Don’t mention the exes, don’t be rated R, and don’t bum everyone out. Nate’s system never fails. That is, until he meets Dan (Nicholas Braun).

It was a fun easy read
A bit too much contrived hand wringing toward the end. Other than that it was fine as a light mystery.

Refreshingly Unique & relatable
This book was a great palette cleanser and a fun ride. It is a well balanced meal for you no matter what you look for in a book, a bit of: family issues & relationships, women's issues (inner conflict & outside conflicts both), humor, witty banter, mystery, adventure, suspense, the hot forest ranger love interest, a little taste of steam 🔥🌶 but not enough to make you blush. I had lukewarm expectations but I'm left with nothing but warm & fuzzies! It kept me on the edge of my seat, made me laugh, made me care about the fate of the characters and made me think about my own self image & family relationships! it's worth the credit & then some!

Dumb but goofy
I think the narrator is the only reason I stuck it out till the end.
The story is goofy and lighthearted at times but has some problems with development.
Happy ending galore even with a family of dumb azz murders. The youngest sister is the worst and I'm sure I'm supposed to empathize with her story, I just couldn't.
The instance romance was gawd awful and was strictly to give the youngest sister something, anything to make her less pathetic.

Delightful!!
This was such a cute and very funny story.
In its own twisted way, it's about family and how they will have your back, whether they want to or not, when needed.
I laughed out loud many times while listening.
I do recommend and both the eBook and audio are available through Kindle Unlimited.

I need some cheese with this Whine
At first it was funny . But then this poor girl was just too whiney for words. I got soooo sick
Of her excuses and talking about her “anxiety “. And the voice reading (granted trying to fit the character) was so annoying I had to stop listening. At one point wanted to hear the story but then NOPE do not care. REALLY disliked the main character!
