About this listen

I once met a man on a cold Halloween night. He dressed as a superhero, and I dressed in red. For one night, I was his break from reality, and he was the temporary fix for my broken heart.

Two years later, I was given the opportunity of a lifetime to become a senior editor at one of the biggest magazine companies in the world. The only catch? Nail an exclusive interview with New York’s finest bachelor: Connor Roe.

To the rest of the world, he was becoming one of the wealthiest men in New York City. To me, he was simply my once-upon-a-time superhero.

My job was to get an exclusive interview with New York’s hottest bachelor. Never in my life did I expect him to want an exclusive with my heart, too.

The only problem with my growing feelings for him? I was set to marry his new business partner.

Wish I would have read it

The story, per Brittany Cherry’s usual, is beautiful through and through and laced with so much depth that it makes you swoon and ache and it’s wonderful. It’s not often you have “good guys” as lead characters in the current romance book world, so it was actually really great to see. That said, these narrators killed a lot of the beauty. I wish I would have read it instead of listened to it, because the maturity that the words required just wasn’t there with these narrators. Couldn’t give less than 5 stars overall because I don’t want to discredit the author’s work, but the performance was disappointing.

tissues people!

The emotions I went through reading this book were frankly too damn many! What a whirlwind this was. I thought the plot of the story was gonna be predictable but it ended up having way more surprises than I expected. My love and disdain and then love for these characters was so strong but the story overall was beautiful. Its a story of two kindred spirits that find each other one fateful Halloween night and their lives are forever intertwined after. Prepare the tissues for this one I thought I was ready and I was not. Such a beautiful story.

A lovely story with bad narration

The story itself is a lovely, feel-good story that is perhaps a little naive and overly optimistic at times. What was disappointing was both the male and female narration. Both were very corny, making beautiful words just come off quite cheesy in a number of places. Still worth a read/listen - especially if you are looking for a nice pick me up tale.

Connor <insert heart eyes>

I LOVE CONNOR ROE.
He is an incredible book boyfriend.
The beginning and the way that they met was my favorite part of their story.
You knew they were destined from the beginning.
I loved Connor in Southern Storms and I'm so glad he gets the kind of girl he deserves with Aaliyah.
I was not expecting the direction that this story took so it was such a pleasant surprise and kept me turning the pages. All the emotions.

the narration was awful

I wish I read it instead. Connor's narrator's voice was very urkel-ish. someone from Kentucky should have some type of drawl . liked the story just can't stand the narration

Had to stop listening

The narration is not fitting for this story. I couldn’t handle Connors narration. Didn’t fit the character at all. Maybe I’ll read this book instead.
