Publisher's summary

Greyson East left his mark on me.

As the young girl who first fell for him, I didn’t know much about life. I did know about his smiles, though, and his laughs, and the strange way my stomach flipped when he was near.

Life was perfect…until it wasn’t, and when we were forced to go our separate ways, I held on to our memories, let go of my first crush, and wished for the day I’d find him again.

When my wish came true, it was nothing like I imagined.

I couldn’t have known when I took the nanny position that it would be his children I looked after, that my new boss would be that boy I used to know, that boy who was now a man - a cold, lonely, detached man.

The smile and laugh I had loved so much were gone, now distant memories. Every part of him was covered in a fresh pain.

When he realized who I was, he made me promise to do my job and my job only.

He made me promise not to try to get to know him, not to recall the memories I’d treasured all this time.

But, sometimes, I saw the boy I’d once known in his stormy eyes. I saw the Greyson who smiled and laughed, who had stolen a young girl’s heart, and there was no doubt in my mind that this boy was worth fighting for.

I was given a second chance with the one who’d left his mark on me. All I hoped was that somehow I’d leave a mark on his soul, too.

2019 Favorite. DON'T PASS THIS ONE UP!

This book. Holy Banana Pants! It was SOOOO good.

Ever since this book came out, I've been hearing nothing but good things about it. Because of the over-hype, I was almost put off from reading it. I randomly saw it on audible escape a few days ago and started it. Erin Mallon is my favorite female narrator, which only helped my decision to pick it up. This was The. Best. Decision. I. Have. Made. In. Months!

I would have to say this book was almost as perfect as romance books can get. It had every single thing you need in a story to pull on your heartstrings and make you become obsessed. These characters became some of my favorite people I have ever read about.

Brittainy C. Cherry - you are a goddess. You have become one of my favorite authors with this book and I can not wait for Landon and Shay's books. You have no idea what you did with this book. All the over-hype is not even enough.

Move Over Nanny McPhee!

Wow! This was the sweetest book! Childhood sweethearts torn apart by time and circumstance. So much raw emotion here...sadness, anger, despair, but also hope, faith, and love too. Thank you Brittany Cherry for giving me all the feels without saturating the entire book with unnecessary overly descriptive sex. This book had my attention right from the first chapter and it never let go. Will definitely be looking forward to more from this author!

Amazing

This is a prime example of how book reviewing can sometimes hinder finding great reads. I am such a mood reader. I actually received an EARC of this when it was released. I was just never in the mood to grab for it but I had to get it reviewed. I never could get into it then. I knew I loved BCC though, so when this was on Audible I decided to give it another chance. I am so glad I did! I loved this!! This story is really told within two time periods. We need Eleanor and Grey while in high school. Both are dealing with different issues. There was limited story around Grey and his parents. Eleanor is dealing with a sick parent and everything that comes along with that. I really connected with Eleanor as I had a sick parent growing up. I loved how we get to see the relationship between Eleanor and her mother. It was not just a sad story thrown in to bring a plot to the story. It was heart breaking and I balled crying. This then picks back up 15 years later when Eleanor and Grey meet again. I loved the beginning, but it this took me over the edge when they are adults. I could not put this down. There are so many changes and Grey is very cold (it makes sense at you read his story). This whole story will break your heart. I literally cried off and on throughout the whole book. Overall, I loved this! I immediately went and purchased the paperback off Amazon as this has to be in my collection!

Second Chance Tragedies

I'm going to have to come back to write the review. I can't see through the tears....

The book starts out with an opposites attract theme where the shy girl is forced upon the popular guy as a favor. But what starts out as awkward became interesting and then turned into something else entirely. That is, until tragedy separates Eleanor and Gray across any miles and the distance as well as time cuts ties.
Skipping ahead almost two decades later and another tragedy brings them back together, only this time their reunion is full of cold hearts and bitterness. Eleanor embarks on a mission to use her experiences in her own tragic past to bring life back into this family but Gray is simply just not having it, putting up frustrating road blocks at her every turn.
As with all of her books, the author hold no punches and does not sugar coat anything. In the smallest of details you see the backstories that shape these characters and the development grows as the story unravels. I am always in awe of her works and this is just another one I highly recommend.
The narrators chosen for the two POVs were top notch. Erin Mallon is an absolute delightful in her delivery of both young and older Eleanor. Angelo Di Loreto's emotional dept of Gray's older self is a contrast to his younger and more lighter teenage years. Both do a fantastic job of sweeping the listener (me) into the story.

Loved It!

I’ve always enjoyed Brittainy C. Cherry’s books and this audiobook was a really sweet and entertaining love story. The hero and heroine meet in high school. He’s a smart, good looking nice guy and she is a bookworm, Harry Potter loving, introvert. Her mom is dying of breast cancer and he becomes her support system. Just as they are starting to fall in love, her mom decides to quit treatment for her cancer and wants to move near a beach for her remaining days. So, they are pretty much torn apart by circumstances. Fast forward about 15 years and she’s now a nanny. When she is let go by her last employer, she starts to look for another nanny position. Much to her shock, she interviews for a job and then finds out its her old friend. Only this version is so changed by the years he doesn’t seem like the same person. I’m not going to give away anymore of the story, but it’s a sweet, fairly clean and moving romance. Narration was excellent.

wow. All the feels.

if you feel like it's been a while and you need a good cry, this book will definitely deliver. I loved the nuances of the relationships and how certain themes kept popping up.

Erin Mallon did her usual solid performance. How she kept from sobbing all throughout the book, I'll never know.

Angelo DiLoreto. I think I would have preferred if Erin had narrated the entire book. Mr. DiLoreto has a very low, gravelly voice that isn't enunciated well much of the time. As a listener, I had to work to hear what he was saying.

I don't often give five star reviews for a book. It really has to be something special to earn it. This one did.

My heart is so full

There are less than 5 books (more like 3 I think) that have made me cry like a baby, like ugly cry.. and this just made that list.. marry me Greyson.. book hubby..
all the emotions and more. The only thing I would have liked was just a little of the story of how Greyson and Nicole came to be.. feel like that was the only thing part of the story that was missing..
