About this listen

A lonely planet circles a star on the very border of Province 921. Critical resources produced there are claimed by both the Mogwa and the Skay. War between the Galactic giants becomes more likely every day.

James McGill and Legion Varus are deployed to protect Edge World, a planet that rotates at a walking pace. Each day is as long as a year back on Earth. The sun-side of the world is baked with endless sunshine, the night-side is freezing and full of strange creatures. Living in an inhabitable zone on the edge of their world, a shadow-line between night and day, nomadic peoples roam the planet. It is these inhabitants Earth’s forces must protect.

Three fleets converge: the Mogwa, the Skay, and Earth’s growing armada. Peace talks are held, but then McGill opens his big mouth, and things go badly....

I thought I was done with Undying Mercenaries. The last story was today and redundant, but this one has certainly redeemed my interest. Great performance, except one thing I am wondering. What is a basketball bat? (when he is describing the shockwave through his feet)

this series is getting too repetitive. also the app prevents my keyboard from automatically capitalizing the first word in a sentence.

getting old

If you have made it to book 14; well you love the series as much as I do. I can't wait to see the next adventure James McGill takes.

I absolutely love this series.

it's not the greatest but not the worst of this series. if you're to this point you know if you like it or not.

exactly what you expect at this point.

so like most of these books, the plot generally moves along with periods of The main character doing incredulous things that no one stops him from doing, and actual good soldiering. there's not much break in the usual formula. formula. I do feel like he's advancing the world with each book and the overarching plot is interesting. since the main character is essentially immortal, it gives time to get major effects to the planet. I'm not even sure how old he is at this point. but by far what made this book for me was when he is having a conversation with the blood worlder and uses the phrase play stupid games, get stupid prizes. that scene is the funniest thing in this entire series because it literally encompasses his entire adventures.

funniest scene in the entire series.

I love this series. The protagonist is an enjoyable character, and the world and events that take place in this book (and the others in the series) are interesting.

As always, Mark Boyett's reading is awesome. He is so experienced with these characters, he really adds humor and drama through his voicework in these books. I wouldn't want to listen to them with any other narrator.

Another fun one
