About this listen

When you kiss your perfect boyfriend under the mistletoe...only for your cousin scream to the family that you stole her man, you realize that you will never again have a merry Christmas.

In my defense, I didn’t know my boss—yup, boss. Buckle up because this is messy—was my cousin’s newly minted and totally lying fiancé. I thought he was the Nutcracker Prince come to finally show my family that I, too, was worthy of putting the star atop the Christmas tree.

I was so wrong.
Now my entire family thinks I’m a ho ho ho.
I’m at the top of the naughty list, not in a fun Elf on the Shelf way, but rather in a snide-comments-at-brunch and sitting-at-the-kids’-table kinda way.

I have to clear my name, or Christmas is ruined. Again.
What better way than to blackmail my family’s number one sworn enemy?
Anderson Wynter is this desperate elf’s last hope. Six-foot-five, ethically challenged, with washboard abs and a death wish, Anderson is the perfect weapon to expose my ex and help me get back in my family’s good graces.
That is, until the weapon massively backfires… and no, not like that.

Anderson goes full Nightmare Before Christmas and shows up at my family’s annual holiday party in nothing but tattoos and a motorcycle helmet and tells everyone we’re dating.
Yep, that kicks me off the naughty list and sends me straight to the Grinch’s garbage dump.

Now I’m chained to a motorcycle-riding bad elf with terrible morals and an even worse attitude—one who sticks his hand down my shirt in the middle of my parents’ posh country club and tells me to ride him like I do his bike.
When I slap him, he just smirks and asks if I fluff my marshmallows while fantasizing about betraying my family with him.
As if.

No way am I sleeping with the man my entire family hates.
Because that won’t just ruin Christmas.
It’ll ruin the rest of my life.

I got this book thinking it would be a fun, feel-good RomCom. I DNF at Ch 18 because I could not tolerate how bad I felt listening to Evie's family constantly berate, demean, and dismiss her. My heart literally ached with every jab.

I'm sure that someone who can look past this an appreciate the humorous parts - of which there are many - this is certainly a good book for them.

It just was not it for me.

Not so feel-good

Awkward Christmas romance between two unlikely people, starting out as a enemies fake “bumping ugly’s” with the MFC, Evie Murphy, blackmailing the MMC, Anderson Wynter, to helping her get the truth out of her cheating x-boss/lover that ruined her reputation both professionally and personally with her family.

A lot of crazy situations happen and some are genuinely funny, but with a lot of inappropriate bad behavior, think Bad Santa. This follows the same pattern/story line as the first book in the series

Overall I gave it 3.5-4 Stars ⭐️

The audiobook has dual narration and both narrators, Avery Reid & Tim Page, did a great job 👏 🎙️👏 4⭐️

Funny awkward family Christmas romance

The book is a fun. I do like when there are two narrators I just like it better when the girl read the girl voices and the boy reads theirs.

How can they be so mean!

Elf Against The Wall was a fast-paced, off-the-wall, smoking hot Christmas story that I absolutely devoured. Evie and Anderson’s hate to love relationship is full of push and pull, up and down moments that will keep you guessing to their true feelings. They are a very unlikely pairing who somehow seem to complement one another and they see something in each other that no one else sees.

Evie is the odd one out in her family and she does everything that she can to get into their good graces, but everything she tries seems to backfire. Anderson is looking for information to help get himself out of debt and when these two collide, chaos explodes.

Even though Evie’s family hates Anderson and vice versa, Evie brings out a softer side to Anderson that no one else sees and Anderson is able to settle Evie. Watching these two fight it out is an absolute blast. Anderson and Evie are full of fire and chaos and I loved every moment.

Tim Page and Avery Reid narrate the audio of this title and they imbibed the characters with just the right amount of spirit and snark. I found their performance very enjoyable and they did a great job of bringing the story to life. Full of wacky hijinks, an absolutely horrible family that I can’t decide if I love or hate, snarky, flirty banter and two headstrong characters that are full of fire, Elf Against The Wall was a fun read that’s hilarious, steamy and heartfelt.

DNF at least for now. I made it to about 90%. I wanted to love this unique ugly duckling story and these quirky characters, but I got annoyed with the FMC. The narrators are fantastic—I picked it because I’m a Tim Paige fan. He does an amazing truly bad boy in this one!!

I really liked the elf gone bad last Christmas. The female in this story written as too much of doormat and hate to sound mean but clueless and not very bright. I got to chapter 17 and just did not want to finish.

This is my 3rd Alina Jacobs book and I adored this one as much as the others.

Evie and Anderson have great chemistry and brilliant banter! Add in Evie's crazy family and Anderson's meddling brother and you have a hit!

Granny Doyle is quite the character and she reminded me a lot of my own Grandma. She had me laugh out loud...a lot.

The story for me is 4.25 stars.
The narration is about 3.25 stars. I enjoyed their own character narrations, but a lot of the supporting actors sounded exactly the same and I struggles with figuring out who was who. It didn't take away from the plot, but I had to relisten to some scenes a few times.

Granny with Attitude!

My absolute favorite character in this book is Grandma Doyle. I was laughing so much during each scene with her. Don't get me wrong the spice was nice, but if you need a good laugh then the outta pocket nature of Granny Doyle is for you.

A great Holiday laugh
