About this listen

Eli wakes up far from Earth and is promptly thrown into the magical prison world of Lurra, with superpowered humans who don’t even know they’re inmates. If that wasn’t bad enough, the experimental implant in his head is malfunctioning, causing all sorts of problems, and the closest neurosurgeons might as well be a universe away. Thankfully, Eli has some new powers of his own, which he’ll need to defeat the many psychos, assassins, and monsters crossing his path.

"Eyes of the Sign" is the first book in a portal fantasy series focused on the sequestered world of Lurra, featuring epic world-building, LitRPG, Isekai, systems, power progression, adventure, and plenty of mysteries to be uncovered in Eli's magical journey into this new reality.

Enjoyable listen, biggest gripe is that the author feels like he’s trying to cram too many prog/litrpg elements together without explaining much. Good enough to continue, hoping the second book is a bit more streamlined/focused.

Overall decent start to a series

First of all the novel was well written and had a great story line, but the ending really just sucked. I don’t know why authors seem to like to have cliffhanger endings like they don’t trust their work enough to just expect readers to just get the next book. They have to leave cliffhanger to try and force the reader to come back to the next book.

It was OK didn’t like the ending

I wasn't sure how to feel about the story when I first started reading/listening. The character introduction felt awkward and a bit clunky, but it grew on me. I was also provided the second book and was finished with it days later. The author does a good job building a world I can clearly picture and explore in my head while reading the book. Characters are appealing. Narrator is fantastic. I've engrossed and have finished all 5 of the books currently available. Looking forward to how the story will continue.
