The Conclusion of Gwen and JC's Story

I came to The Sky Launch to begin fresh, away from the horrors of my past. The circumstances that brought me here were not the best, but I've become good friends with Alayna and Hudson Pierce, and my family has healed in ways I never thought they could. With them around me, I've never felt more at home. But starting anew means letting go. And there are some things I don't want to leave behind - like JC, the man who taught me how to let loose. The man I wasn't supposed to love. The man I don't want to lose. My life is safe now. The threats from before have become less menacing, and I'm faced with a choice: either move on completely or keep holding to the hope that JC loves me enough to come and find me.

These books were a great roller coaster ride. I couldn’t let go.

I would like to add that Tanya Eby was a great narrator. She made the story really come alive. You felt like you were inside of the books.

Of course, the real star was the books themselves. This ending was great. You would no sooner think you had everything figured out; when, the plot would take off in another direction. Couldn’t put it down..

wrong voice choice

I really love these stories. the voice doesn't seem to fit this character. Authors voice and reader doesn't go together

Wonderful story and such a great ending!

I loved the ending of this story. I love their love and how strong they are together. I did share a tear or two but overall hot and sweet.

Horrible Scottish brogue.

I own over 500 audible books and have never written a review. The narration on this book is not acceptable. Story is good.

Frustrating

I enjoy Laurelin Paiges’ romance novels. They don’t leave much for the imagination and are well presented. Unfortunately I aa totally disgusted with Gwen and her behavior. She continually professed her undying love and desire for JC, yet even when he explained everything, she still complain! Her narration was very irritating. All her sentences ended like she was asking a question even when she wasn’t. Many times I said “ I can’t finish this book, she is driving me crazy!” But I was too invested in the series to stop. In the end all was well but I didn’t find the journey there very pleasant Because she was too frustrating and foolish in my opinion! I would’ve been thrilled with that man! LOL. It was still worth reading though no matter how frustrated she made me!

Great story with fantastic narration.

Ah I love Gwen and JC. This second book gives us all the missing pieces. It starts with Gwen setting a date on which she's going to let JC go from her life, but of course fate has other things in store for her. Their paths cross again and they're all in, but someone is after JC and Gwen’s past is catching up to her too. Once all the secrets are out on the table we get to enjoy the relationship between these two and see how it moves from purely physical to that bone deep connection that soul mates have. JC is determined to keep Gwen safe, even if he has to sacrifice his own happiness, but Gwen is ready to stand by her man no matter what.

The physical connection these two have is sultry and wholly satisfying. The scenes that Laurelin writes will have you fanning yourself and you glued to the pages. They begin to get adventurous and explore this side of their lives. Laurelin is the Queen of Steam but also writes a really good plot; full of intrigue, action and emotions.

I always love meeting new couples in her worlds and seeing how they interact and fit into the bigger picture. This duet and couple were no different. Although they have their own amazing story, they fit nicely into the Fixed World and again we see other couples making cameos.

Tanya gives us another stellar performance, with the book being solely from Gwen’s POV, she does it all. Her ability to give us the desperation, protectiveness and connection between these two was fantastic. Another brilliant audiobook with a cracker story and wonderful narration.

liked characters

the first in series was less remarkable, but got 2nd so I would get full story. Unusual for heroine to be the one to not wait. Usually skim over sex scenes when they overrun story. Not so easy to do when listening to story. That aside, I liked narrator's voice characterizations , which has been my biggest hangup with Audibles. Hudson's voice was a little soft but ok. Liked solution for heroine's father even if waited so long I thougt he just dropped from story without payback .So overall I liked.
