Ever dreamed of winning the lottery? One of those massive, life-altering purses? Join Keith Whipple and his daughter, Kate, as they do just that, netting $10 million in a single-winner draw. Share in their excitement, the dreams that leap into their lives fully formed, suddenly within easy reach. But that kind of money, the heady sense of power it brings, do we control it? Or does it control us? Join the Whipples and their ill-fated ticket on a blood-fueled ride of greed, deception and murder, in a game in which there can be only one winner.

I first read an earlier version of this book in print a few years ago and quite enjoyed it. Listening to the story again, in this revised version had me on the edge of my seat and I couldn't stop listening. The tale of Kate and her father, the notorious crooked cop they cross paths with, the good cop who is there at their side and the series of dirty, cheating and lying dirt-bags who demonstrate that there is absolutely no honour among thieves kept me on the edge of my seat despite knowing how the story was going to unfold.
While the narrator does a decent job of relaying the story, I felt his narrator was a bit slow, which didn't quite fit with the suspense and fast-paced tension of the tale. Thus, listening to it at 1.5X (and even 2X) speed worked brilliantly.
