About this listen

A little sweet tea and a whole lot of spells won't always put out the fire...

Welcome to Jewell, North Carolina, a small strip of land on the Crystal Coast with no stop signs or traffic lights, but it's got a whole lot of magic. Ruby Mae Jewell helps run the family business of selling antiques and refurbished goods. But with old objects, you never know when one of them possesses more than just dust and cobwebs.

When Rue hits up a flea market, she gets more than she bargained for. Finding a potentially dangerous magical object, she has to get it off the market and out of mortal hands. But when more research reveals its threatening nature to the magical community as well, she's put to the test of what to do...especially when they find someone murdered on their land who was looking for it.

Ruby Mae struggles to balance doing the right thing and saving her family at all costs. But when things turn from bad to worse, it may get harder for her to know which choices to make.

Will her fiery personality and powers be able to solve the mystery before anyone else gets hurt or will Ruby Mae's efforts to solve the murder go up in smoke?

This magical object story, chock full of ancestral ghosts is right down my alley! I loved it and really look forward to reading/listening to everything Bella Falls has published if they are anything like this. OMG the covers, how beautiful are they? The colour, font and CATS. Yes I'd put a bib on that hound dog, eat everything Granny the ghost cooked, scratch the cousin behind the ear and go to every flea market with Jewell. RECOMMENDED CLEAN FUN MAGICAL GHOSTLY STORIES!

I THINK I HAVE FOUND A NEW AUTHOR!

Very entertaining, with lots of interesting characters. I love the narrator, she gave just right amount of slang to the heroine.

Great Story

Good story and characters. The narrator’s husky odd cadence was distracting. Overall enjoyable cozy tale.

Love this book!
Easy and light, enjoyable and witty.
Narrator is great.
Story line has average moments.
But it is a cost mystery, coffee, bed and fire going...
Perfect!

Cant for the next one, come on audible.

Cosy all the way.

This is what I call a "cutesy" type of supernatural story. Not too serious, lots of daily living type of conversations, some action, not a lot, but good strong core values including family values. Good narrator, like the accident, works for these characters.

Cute

Amazing book

I was intrigued when I saw that this was based in NC, as that’s where I live. The story was pretty decent actually and I enjoyed the story but the accents the narrator used were unnecessary and annoying. It was almost bad enough that I wasn’t going to listen past the first chapter but then I got hooked. This is not a North Carolina accent at all, more of a Deep South, Louisiana accent. I would have rather it been read with no accent by far.

The accent got on my nerves

reminded me a lot of the sookie sackhouse stories. definitely some differences between the two. interesting and a bit comical at times read or listen for yourself and I hope you enjoy it.

Just couldn’t get into it. Reasonable story elements, but nothing caught and held my attention.
