A new Isekai LitRPG about an everyday veterinarian reincarnated into fantasy world dictated by a System.
Master his rare magic. Gather followers. Rise to power.
When Zareth was first reborn into a strange new world of magic and wonder, he was ecstatic. He’d expected to go on to live an exciting life filled with danger and adventure.
Instead, Zareth spends much of his new life on the streets of Tal’Qamar before eventually becoming a Cultist to Cerebon, God of Flesh and Transformation, where he spends most of his time helping rich women smoothen their skin.
Just when he had given up hope of his fantasy life ever being anything exceptional, everything changes. The leaders of Tal’Qamar are assassinated, leaving a power vacuum at the top.
This is his chance. Zareth can fill that void, take control of a feuding city, and grow his cult from nothing. But he isn't the only one after the crown.
Will his Flesh Magic alone be enough to see him safe through his rise to power?
Cultist of Cerebon is a new isekai LitRPG adventure featuring a detailed magic System, unique skills, slow-build power progression, an intelligent MC, and deep worldbuilding. With many millions of views as a beloved web-serial, listen to this definitive version and join Zareth's unforgettable adventure!

I want to point out at the outset of this review that this title is listed as belonging to the LitRPG sub-genre, which usually means that the story includes significant role playing game (RPG) elements. Some LitRPG titles that I’ve read or listened to get carried away with the use of RPG jargon and imagery, making them less accessible or interesting to readers/listeners who are not aficionados of RPGs. This is not the case with this title! While the author certainly uses RPG terminology and descriptions to the extent necessary for their fantasy world building, they are interwoven so skillfully into the overall story that both gamers and non-gamers can appreciate and enjoy this audiobook (or book if you’re not into audio)!
The focal character is Zareth, who was previously a veterinarian on Earth, but who is reincarnated into a strange new world where gods have great powers and magic is ubiquitous. Zareth finds himself in the city of Tal’Qamar, living in the slums and trying to survive by his wits as a street urchin. His goal for himself is to be able to leave his desperate circumstances and make a better life when he’s grown. With this in mind, when he reaches adulthood he chooses the Class of Cultist to Cerebon, God of Flesh and Transformation (Cultist is effectively the head cleric for a god’s body of followers). This Class bestows skills and knowledge that permit Zareth to make a better but still basic living performing magical cosmetic improvements for wealthy clients. However, he has bigger dreams of building his Cult into a more powerful and prosperous institution and of achieving a substantially higher level of prestige, power, and fortune for himself. New opportunities arise when there is a change in the leadership of Tal’Qamar and the story evolves from that point.
I will not provide any further details because I want the listeners (or readers) to experience this fantastic tale for themselves. I will mention that the story involves lots of unexpected occurrences, and intrigue of both religious (Cult) and political natures.
The storyline carries the listeners through a comprehensively structured fantasy world narrative that keeps them immersed and interested from the beginning until the very end of the audiobook. Zareth and the other characters are carefully delineated and are engaging and relatable.
The narrator, Wayne Mitchell, is very good and he brings the characters and story to life.
Overall I highly recommend this audiobook (or book) to anyone who enjoys immersive storytelling. I look forward to listening to the next audiobook in this series!

I will be following this series and author.
That said... the timing of the ending was a strange choice. It's almost like it was chosen based on word count instead of any pacing or narrative decision... it just, ends.
If you need a tidy ending, you.may want to wait until the next book is out, and listen to them back to back.
Great listen, with a very odd choice of ending.
