About this listen

Noah Gantz is tricked out, powered up, and a hell of a lot funnier now that he’s survived his first showdown with his archrival, rogue test pilot Colonel Tate Collins. None of that will be enough to save his new friends when things go from bad to worse.

Because in the Gavant Reach, things definitely will.

When Wozim, the Tyton battle lord who already saved his life more than once, is crucially injured, Noah and the rest of the crew must find a lost planet, brave the terrors of the local wilderness, and find a cure for their friend's worsening wounds. All Noah must do to save the Woz-man and get out of there alive is allow a piece of ancient alien technology embed itself in his flesh. What could possibly go wrong?

Will his new abilities stop Collins and the Gavant’s new secret weapon? Can he afford to pay the price when it comes due?

Dive into the second book of the Homeworld Lost series by J. N Chaney and Scott Moon to find out.

It was great.

You had strange aliens, action, drama, it was awesome
Maybe try having a different person reading for each character involved

The series is getting better-worth reading!

I’ve always been a huge fan of these authors, and was a little disappointed with the first book in the series. Thankfully the story became better as the characters started developing more. I enjoyed this book much more than the first.
I was intrigued with the concept of a living starship because I was a big fan of the tv show Farscape years ago. Chaney and Moon have captured that spirit quite well, adding their trademark humor to the story as week.
The voice actor does an admirable job of bringing the characters to life.
I’m looking forward to the next book!

like a more sophisticated guardians of the galaxy!

Really enjoying this series. It has it all; action, interesting, layered character development, and relationships. Plus, the author paints a vivid picture of how stunning our universe is.

Exceptional audio performance

I was able to listen as my day went on, if it had been a book I might have been out until I finished. It was just that hard to put down.

It was good enough to keep me interested

The story was to much “Farscape” from the beginning and the structure of the characters initially was as well. Make your own decisions but I did like it.

Too much whining

This could have been a great story. Unfortunately, our “hero” spends too much of the book filled with self-doubt, angst, and introspection. A little bit of those sprinkled throughout a story would be acceptable, but this story is filled with them to the point of distraction. It gets old very fast.

One example may suffice. In every confrontation with an opponent, our hero spends most of his time trying to figure out how not to win so he doesn’t hurt anybody. In every instance, he tries to convince his nemeses not to persist in doing harm, which continually results in the reign of evil being extended.

The narrator does a splendid job of telling the story, but deserved a better story to tell.

excellent narrator

the excellent narrator helps make this series bearable. the main character, despite being a prior-service enlisted air force member, and having achieved the rank of Major in the air force, continues to stumble and fail into success. the storyline is interesting enough to keep me going, in spite of the main character's seemingly constant ability to snatch the jaws of victory out of the insurmountable jaws of defeat.

The story just keeps getting better!

I can hardly wait for the next book in the series to be offered by audible. I enjoyed book 1 but book 2 took it to another level for me. Book 1 was a “slow-burn,” if you will, laying the ground work for in-depth work building. Though there was plenty of action, this was a critical component of moving the story ahead so do not dismiss the value in those efforts if you are a sci-if action lover. Book 2 still introduces new variables but with the foundation laid in book 1 the series moved along at a speedier pace…in my perception. I am a greedy listener so I hope the rest of the series is available soon🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
