Publisher's summary

Humanity is fractured. The world is burning. Ravenous Orakh have arrived.

Dan Thrush has the capability, technology, and magic to stitch society back together - and add a bottleneck for the invasion. Unfortunately, not everyone wants things to resolve quickly. Even as he tries to clean up the mess that spawned in the wake of the Elven invasion, some people challenge him for control of the new world; isolated pockets of humanity fight the aliens, and others have decided to quietly give up.

Giving up is a bad idea: Orakh are hunting the survivors like animals, and they aren’t exactly known for taking live prisoners. Though reluctant to trust anyone but his closest allies, Dan will need to jury-rig a force that can beat back the swarm: a combination of new magic, weapons, and fair-weather allies. This isn’t the first time he’s faced these odds, but it is the first time he’s been around long enough to have bitter enemies who want to see him fail.

Sometimes the teeth coming at his throat are the only thing reminding Dan of the price for failure.

Worth the credit

The MC's progression proceeded at a brisk pace thanks for the mana doses he got from defeating a number of minor bosses and a several elves along the way. Then, there were the Orc battles that really kicked it up a notch. He even somehow acquired a female Skippy AI along the way for added comic relief.

A lot of the details in acquiring new force-multiplier tech was left at the superficial level. There deaths of some pivotal players help to keep the series grounded.

Daniel Wisniewski performance has been and continues to be excellent.

Wraps things up with a bang!

Probably one of my favorite system apocalypse stories yet, Viceroy's Pride has been a delight the whole way through. I know it's going to be a while until we get the second trilogy, but I already can't wait!

Yes...I'm a fan!

I want to admit that I received a free code for this audio book. You might think that this would insure a 5 star review from me. However, in order for me to review this book, I had to purchase and read the first 2 ebooks. I fell in LIKE (not love) with this series as a whole. This book was a pretty good addition to the overall story and was an enjoyable listen. Yes, it's worth the credit.

Hopefully not the end

If this is the end of the series, then it was a good ending, but I hope it’s not. The MC has so much more he can do with dealing the elves in galaxy as well as go back to Twilight even and rectify things there…

All in all this whole series has been a great addition to my library

In a world... with too much drama in your voice!

I liked the story. I didn't love it. But, I did like it enough to finish it and will read the next one if it comes out.
What I didn't like was the amount of drama in the narrator's voice the ENTIRE BOOK. It was always annoying, but the one example that really sticks out in my mind was in Chapter 3, where the main character thinks he "was going to make her see a therapist," with all the drama in his voice like he was an evil villain monologuing the next step in his plan for global domination.

If you can remember the "In a world..." movie trailers from decades ago, you might have an idea what I am talking about. But imagine every boring detail of your day being described with that level of intensity. I hated it. It almost ruined the book for me. Listen to the Sample to see if you can stand it before buying.
