Publisher's summary

What would you do if you could go back in time and change your life? Which regrets and mistakes would you fix? What would your life look like now?

In Future Proof, an experimental medical treatment goes wrong, which allows Sam Harris to do exactly that. He starts by standing up to the kids who bullied him at school and then sets about trying to fix the mess he made of the rest of his life. However, as he discovers, changing his past doesn’t always guarantee a brighter future.

Buckle up for a bumpy fun filled ride of what ifs and second chances. Winner of the Page Turner Awards 2022 Genre Award, Future Proof is a romantic comedy/drama filled with love, tears, and laughter with an accompanying original musical soundtrack.

Entertaining Time Travel Yarn

What if you could “fix” your present by changing your past? What would you change? If you are a fan of the book “Replay” by K. Grimwood, this book will likely capture your interest.

Only two real complaints: the feminine tone of the narrator confused me at first. I’ll admit, I was only vaguely paying attention in the beginning and so didn’t realize “Sam” was a man until Chapter Three. Apologies for the sexist undertone but a man reading in a falsetto is easier to imagine as a female character than a woman reading in regular voice is to imagine as a man.
Second complaint is more philosophical than mechanical. It seems the underlying assumption of the author is that personal happiness is directly dictated by our ability to deal with death and loss. Again, apologies for the undertones here but this is the same philosophy that seems to be pushing our society ever closer to collapse. Our researcher communities seem to be obsessed with “can we prolong life” and never bother to ask the question “should we prolong life?”
Death is a natural step in the progression of life, not a punishment. It is part of the order of things. Embracing its inevitability and enjoying the time you do have seems more important than fighting its onset and dreading its arrival. Everyone has lost or will lose someone close to them. It doesn’t have to be a life altering trauma as this author implies all such events are.
All that said, the story is amusing. The narration is well done. The characters are likable. It’s not a novel that is going to stick with you for a few weeks after you finish, but a great beach or before-bed read.

The method of time travel

I really enjoyed this book! I especially liked the method of time travel which was unique and I haven’t seen before: it actually led me to do further research on it! I look forward to the next installment if there is one.

Really great time travel book!

I’m a big time travel fanatic, I’ve probably read most of the top ones out there. I’m going through to say this was a great read and listen (I read the kindle version at night and listen to the audio during the day if I have time).

I really enjoyed this and look forward to the next one David writes.

Interesting take on time travel

I really enjoyed the story, especially once it picked up steam around 20% in.
