A Warhammer 40,000 Audiobook

Archmagos Belisarius Cawl invites representatives from across the Imperium, hoping to secure their assistance in unlocking the secrets of the pylon network. Among the attendees, however, is an uninvited guest who may possess the only mind in the galaxy greater than that of the fabled Archmagos…

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

The showdown of two much-loved characters finally occurs – Fabius Bile vs Belisarius Cawl. Each is a genius in their own right, and both are willing to do things most others won't to achieve their goals.

Which of these two megaminds will come out victorious?

THE STORY

In the hope of taming the Great Rift that divides the galaxy in two, Archmagos Belisarius Cawl invites representatives from across the Imperium to the artificial world of Pontus Avernes. Confident he can convince them of his genius, he must secure their assistance in unlocking the secrets of the pylon network – significant structures built by an ancient race that he believes can stave off the pull of the warp. But among the attendees is an uninvited guest: Fabius Bile himself.

The Pater Mutatis needs no validation of his genius and has his own agendas, the pursuit of which will bring about an epic confrontation of the galaxy’s greatest scientific minds – and from which only one can emerge victorious.

Written by Guy Haley. Narrated by John Banks. Run time 10hrs 15mins (approx).

A wacky, philosophical and touching story

Came for Bile vs Cawl but stayed for everything else.

A sequel to the previous Cawl novel and in my opinion far superior. While that Cawl novel set up the character and backstory of Cawl this one shows him not just at his best but surprisingly enough at his most vulnerable

Where Cawl defends himself against those who would have him burned at the stake and where we see how despite being over 10,000 years old he has more humanity then any other 40k character I’ve ever seen

But just because I’ve only talked about Cawl doesn’t mean the rest of the cast is lacking. Far from it with each of them being unique and I would adore to see stories centered around them.

I believe this is a must read 40k book for anyone interested in the setting

Cool things happen but the premise is overshadowed

A lot of neat lore is given in this story and the voice acting is really good as usual! However, what was promised in the synopsis of the book isn't really delivered on until like the last 20% and even the pylon stuff takes a sudden backseat.

40K’s two most eccentric characters

Cawl and Bile are just total max scientist megalomaniacs and I’m here for it 100%.

Excellent Tale of Two Mad Scientists

Fantastic insight into what makes Cawl and Bile such standout characters. The book is full of interesting perspectives and approaches to quest for knowledge and especially Cawl’s musings and monologues are a joy to listen to. Highly recommended!

Good

Cawl is fastly becoming one of my favorite characters in 40k. This book brings him down to Earth, so to speak, in a couple ways. He's still the smartest guy in the room but we see some weaknesses here. One spot where this book suffers is a side plot dealing with some knights. it's not poorly written but it feels like filler as it has no impact on the rest of the story.

Sad

This was a great book it was a step forward and a couple steps back I love the author but it truly seems like he did not read the bile trilogy or at least the last book. This was a great step forward for crawl but a couple steps backwards for bile… other then that I love the story and a great read
