About this listen

After an EMP attack plunged the nation into chaos, two parents must make a daring journey that spans more than 800 miles without modern technology.

With the fate of their twins hanging in the balance, Brooke and Ethan must brave the hostile environment of the great plains, face outlaws and bandits who have taken control of Dodge City, Kansas, and confront their inner demons to reunite with their loved ones.

Along the way, they make unlikely allies, discover secrets about the world they thought they knew, and uncover long-forgotten truths about themselves. Will they have what it takes to get out of Dodge and make it home, or will their suffering be for naught?

Follow this desperate family as they navigate a grid-down world.

Getting Out of Dodge is book two in the Desperate Age Series.

God why would keep saying the word Pamie?! Ruined the entire series for me. Please stop saying that.

This narrator saying Pamie??!!

have I disliked a character enough to mention them in a review. I probably will not finish this series because Brooke makes me crazy! She is so self centered. I can't see myself spending time reading her story. I'm sad about that because I hate an unfinished tale. Again....sorry, but no more.

Very rarely....

I hated the characters Brook and Nina. They were both clingy wimpy women. Hated these characters.

Wimpy

I really want to enjoy this series , I really do . as others have stated the name "pamie" being said countless times had me wanting to turn off this book and return it . what a terrible name ! the story is just ok . a lot of things the main characters do is so counter productive to their end goal it makes you question if they truly want to get home . the narrator is frankly pretty bad from attempting to change voice tones and fall flat to sounding like he's constantly wiping his hand in front of his mouth makes a difficult listen even harder . depending on how book 3 starts I may not finish this series it's been a challenge

ok story . not so great narrator

Book 2 is much better than book one. The series continues to introduce new lovable characters as well as those you dislike . Brook and Eathan's story is one you can cheer

The Apocalypse meets the Old West

I really like this Author. The story is good. The narration is terrible. The narrator does the mens voices ok but the female voices are terrible. Every female is made to sound whiney. Usually, if the story is good, I can overlook a bad naration but the female voices in this audio book drive me crazy.

Good story. Not so good naration

The wife turned into a whiny little wimp. And of course did all the typical whiny, wimpy woman things that this genre, so loves to portray.
Bad gang does bad things, hero gets shot, wife cry’s Blaw Blaw Blaw

This one was difficult

I was totally turned off by the helpless whining Brooke. I am an Oklahoma woman. We are not helpless or dependent. Especially a Cherokee woman. I quit reading because of her snd won’t go back to any of his books again. Weak.

Poor representation of Oklahoma woman
