About this listen

Hi. My name is Will. Apparently, I’m a necromancer.

You would think that I might be a little bit more certain about something like that. Magical practitioners apparently go through a lot of training in an apprenticeship. Again with the apparently. In this case, "apparently" is completely appropriate because I didn’t do any of that.

I was finally ready to renovate my house, so I was in a pinch for an apartment. I ended up in one that had a bunch of weird reviews. I did say I was in a pinch. It turned out that the apartment had a ghost. I sort of...uh… well, maybe you should take a seat. I have quite a story to tell.

An interesting and unique story!

Ghost Story by JG Jerome is a very interesting and unique story. I didn't know what to think about this one based on the description and cover but overall it was fun and interesting. Something I wouldn't typically even consider but I'm glad I did!
Audio Version: Zachary Zaba and Kassandra Cherry do a great job with their characters and the overall narration.

Interesting

This is first and foremost an adult story. It is a very interesting one, as long as you enjoy a slice of life with a story. Great world building, interesting characters. Very much enjoyed this.

Kassandra Cherry did a fantastic job bringing all of the female characters to their own little bit of life. Zachary Zaba read well, if with little verve.

Finally!!!

I've been a fan of JG Jerome's book for quite some time, and I'm happy that there's finally an audio version.
Though the only downside I find is in the editing, replacing words like "man" with "male", or "woman" with "person".
Overall I'm looking forward to the next JG Jerome book being made into an Audiobook.

Check this one out

Right up front before you read any further just know that I recommend this book to anybody thinking about giving it a shot. A little context for my review. I tend to take it easy on the first and last book of any series as not every series makes it to “The End” and the first of anything can be a shaky endeavor. I also try to make clear the distinction between the quality of the writing/performance of the author/narrator and my personal tastes should they differ.

The prologue is unbelievably brutal. It was well written but so horrific that I almost walked away. It details the abuse from the father of the family back in the 1800s leading up to the death of the wife and daughter. You may have noticed from the cover art that there is a ghost in the image and now you know where that ghost came from. Chapter one while not as brutal opens up with the main character essentially walking in on his wife being spitroasted. That's not the only terrible thing that happens to him but it's safe to say that he's more or less hit rock bottom. Since the divorce, however, things start to turn around. He's got a job and a place to sleep while the new place is being renovated. He’s made friends with benefits, and I do mean more than one. He is former military and apparently has no issues taking everything in stride considering what's happened to him. This includes the discovery that is temporary pad is haunted by a ghost and that apparently, he can keep cancer at Bay simply by having sex with the person. You may have noticed in the blurb that it says he's a necromancer, but I don't want to draw the connections for you as I think despite the brutal opener, you'll enjoy the story. The only other book that I've listened to by this author is titled “Saxon Max.” I bring this up because they both seem to be heavy on the spicier scenes. I would not go so far as to categorize them as porn between the pages and nothing else, but it's definitely closer to that than the normal stories you find in this genre. This book appears to be the start of the author’s longest series to date with books 2, 3 and 4 available in eBook form.

As for the narrators have come across Zachary Zaba’s performances before in “Desperate Times” and “Incubus RA.” Like this book by this author, both of the aforementioned are heavy on the spice. I think he did a good job here just like he has in the past thereby putting him in the tried-and-true column. This is dual narration and Zachary's partner in this is Kassandra Cherry. This is the first time I'm enjoying her performance because this is the first time I've come across this narrator. Taking a quick look over on Audible it appears that she is relatively new, but she's definitely talented. Lastly, I will just say well done to everybody who had a hand in bringing this story to us the audible listeners and I look forward to what comes next.

Not Bad

The story has potential. The smutty parts are cute but nothing great. My only complaint is the book just stops right when the first bad guy lays down a threat.

Needs more story less other Stuff

Had the makings of a good story, some good action both in bed an outer of it. The only issue I had with this story was too much of the formal and not enough of the latter. Plus it would have been nice to see more of the supernatural world.

Another great book by J G Jerome. You will not be disappointed. Also the dual narration really brings the story to life.
