The Accidental Necromancer

William James is a man with a lot on his plate. Three years after a messy divorce, he’s renovating the dilapidated old house his wife let him have, working for a construction technology firm, and playing music in bars. But when he moves into a new apartment, he discovers a supernatural ability—he can see ghosts and raise the dead. With his ghostly roommate and two girlfriends, William embarks on a journey to explore the unseen world, build a new family, and learn to control his powers.

Hi. My name is Will. Apparently, I’m a necromancer. You would think that I might be a little bit more certain about something like that. Magical practitioners apparently go through a lot of training in an apprenticeship. Again with the apparently. In this case, "apparently" is completely appropriate because I didn’t do any of that. I was finally ready to renovate my house, so I was in a pinch for an apartment. I ended up in one that had a bunch of weird reviews. I did say I was in a pinch. It turned out that the apartment had a ghost.

Will James has had an interesting summer so far. He met a ghost, resurrected her, and took her for a girlfriend. She is a witch who died in 1891. She tells him he’s a necromancer. His occasional hookup becomes a full-time hookup. He meets an angel. He resurrects another ghost. His out-of-town girlfriend turns out to be a sorceress. He ties his boss up at a workshop, and she likes it. All these ladies want Will. What’s a guy to do? Create a harem of strong, talented women, of course.

Will James thought his life would calm down after sending Shryl home, battling magically enhanced elves, and destroying the greater imp lord, Xranalazny. After a couple of weeks of normal work activities mixed with copious amounts of marital bliss, everything appeared on the right track. They all get to support Audrey’s sports team. Will goes on a business trip to Chicago. His boss propositions him. You know, normal everyday events and activities.

At forty-one years of age, William James discovered that he was born a necromancer, the progeny of the most powerful necromancer ever known. He’s won duels with necromancers, drained the life from zombies, battled elves who were super-powered by magical collars, and rescued his succubus girlfriend before marrying her. Will had hoped that his life would calm down after that to let them catch their breath.

Since William James discovered he’s a necromancer, the world has changed drastically. The unseen world has emerged into the open after the elves from Prime sent two billion soldiers, magicians, pleasure slaves, and farmers to Earth. Will and Darcie have found Jack, but will he survive? Will the Sigma virus be the end for humanity? Governments will disintegrate. Both humans and elves will die as they fight for ownership of Earth.
