About this listen

Resurrect beauty from the ashes of betrayal

Wife and mother Cindy Beall's world was shattered when her beloved husband of nine years confessed his pornography addiction, numerous affairs, and the stunning news that another woman was pregnant with his child.

What could have been the end of a marriage instead became a testament to God's miraculous ability to restore broken hearts and damaged bonds. With the wisdom and healing she's gained in the twenty years that have passed since her husband's devastating revelation, Cindy shares her own experience as well as those of couples she's counselled.

Drawing from her intimate knowledge of human pain and God's power, Cindy shows how you can seek support, counseling, and prayer after deception has surfaced; rebuild trust that's been eroded by infidelity, addiction, or other transgressions; help your family heal from grief and reconcile with any long-term consequences; and rely on God to pursue forgiveness and move forward in new promises.

Cindy's remarkable story, compassion, and grasp of God's word will help you trust God with your heartache as you seek His hope and redemption.

So real and practical

I love how transparent the author was, deep and somehow simple. So helpful, it changed my perspective on marriage

Great Read!

Really enjoyed this book and the authors transparency. I would recommend this book to anyone who has or is going through an affair in their marriage. Whether it’s an addiction to porn, emotional or physical affair, this book would be great for both spouses to read. Overall, the narrator did a good job except when trying to play a males voice. Honestly, I think the narrator should just read in her own voice.

There’s some really harmful advice in here

A lot of the advice in this book is pretty harmful. Retired therapist here and I would not advise a lot of what she says. That’s great that it worked for her but as a whole I wouldn’t advise people this way. She also really doesn’t get into the HOW to build trust and move past marital hurdles. It’s just a lot of “lean on God…devote yourself to God.” Which is fantastic advice and also 1000 times easier said than done. Would not recommend to anyone going through marital struggles.

Nice story but missing details

Nice story of their personal story but can't really find answers here. Missing details include: how did he repent, did she ask those actions of him, were they suggested by someone else or did he "Do Whatever It Takes" all on his own? It might be nice to know there is hope, it might be a nice story of reminders to give it to God, but doesn't help with the actual nitty gritty or provide answers to those of us without an entire church congregation behind us, or even give insight as to HOW to actually rebuild trust as in who suggests what in any detail. Nice story but was hoping for more details, logistics, literally.

Not for me. In a marriage that was destructive and porn and an affair were involved this was not helpful.

I don’t agree this is good advice for all marriages where porn and affairs are involved. Sometimes God calls you out of a marriage for your protection. I especially was turned off by the comment about “ being a little naughtier in the bedroom”. That is for you and your husband and what society says it should be. Maybe someone needs to hear this story but it was not helpful for my situation.
