Publisher's summary

Evan Smoak - government assassin gone rogue - returns in Hellbent, an engrossing, unputdownable thriller from Gregg Hurwitz, the latest in his #1 international bestselling Orphan X series.

Taken from a group home at age twelve, Evan Smoak was raised and trained as an off-the-books government assassin: Orphan X. After he broke with the Orphan Program, Evan disappeared and reinvented himself as the Nowhere Man, a man spoken about only in whispers and dedicated to helping the truly desperate.

But this time, the voice on the other end is Jack Johns, the man who raised and trained him, the only father Evan has ever known. Secret government forces are busy trying to scrub the remaining assets and traces of the Orphan Program and they have finally tracked down Jack. With little time remaining, Jack gives Evan his last assignment: find and protect his last protégé and recruit for the program.

But Evan isn't the only one after this last Orphan - the new head of the Orphan Program, Van Sciver, is mustering all the assets at his disposal to take out both Evan (Orphan X) and the target he is trying to protect.

Of course not the high quality of his first- Orphan X, but still really good addictive story . Much better than The Nowhere Man - very entertaining with great narration -highly recommend.

The best Orphan X story yet!

This Orphan X novel kept my interest from the very beginning until the very end. Evan Smoak actually does have feelings and a soul. I found it interesting that the author developed that part of him in this novel. This was a great read, and I can’t wait to find out what happens in his last book of the series!

Heck yea!

I've been listening to some books recently that I thought were good, but this one was great! Gregg Hurwitz just keeps getting better. If you need an action fix this is the book for you. My only, semi-negative comment is that Scott Brick does too good a job setting the moods... especially when Orphan X is musing / brooding. It's during these times that I just want to fast forward a minute or two to get past the gushy stuff. Other than that, I've already preordered the next round action.

First Hurwitz, but not my last

I chose this book because of its ratings and because I LOVE Scott Brick, especially when he is narrating a suspense novel. This was my first by author Gregg Hurwitz, but definitely not my last. I loved the story and the performance. Bravo, Audible. Just when I was thinking maybe audible books no longer held my interest.
