This book helped me understand and plan...

I can't say I had a plan before I read this book. I understand more about underlying issues and the part we all can play in assisting change. I thought the reader was quite respectful of what we're going through. At times she practically called me into action. I imagine I will return for another listen when I need a boost.

a good place to start

This would have been a great book to start with when I first realized my child had an eating disorder. it gives a good overview of the different therapies and treatments available for eating disorders. It explains what is involved in each one, CBT, DBT, FBT, ABT--- It can be overwhelming when you are first trying to understand and this book gives a nice summary of each modality and summarizes the evidence that supports them. It also explains the different levels of care, inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient, and talks about things to consider when deciding which level might be most appropriate for your teen. If you're looking for a good place to start your research this is a good choice.

Lots of great information

The narrator was a very slow talker. It made it very hard to want to listen to the book. But overall the content of the actual book is worth listening to.

Horrible reading ruins a great book

This is a hard topic and the reading is so empty and artificial that it ruins the text making it sound aloof and disconnected

Privileged, biased, and robotic

Privileged, biased towards nuclear families, and without the nuance of true trauma-informed care. Narrator sounded maddeningly robotic.
