About this listen

When the world of Armageddon is attacked by orks, the Black Templars Space Marine Chapter are amongst those sent to liberate it. Chaplain Grimaldus and a band of Black Templars are charged with the defence of Hive Helsreach from the xenos invaders in one of the many battle zones.

But as the orks' numbers grow and the Space Marines' numbers dwindle, Grimaldus faces a desperate last stand in an Imperial temple. Determined to sell their lives dearly, will the Black Templars hold on long enough to be reinforced, or will their sacrifice ultimately be in vain?

"Until the End"

Bowden's writing brought to life in only the way Keeble can. Road by bloody road the forces of Hellsreach are beaten back. Yet they stand. Until the end.

Fantastic!

If you could sum up Helsreach: Warhammer 40,000 in three words, what would they be?

It is great!

What other book might you compare Helsreach: Warhammer 40,000 to and why?

Betrayer. Because it's the same author and also a great story.

Have you listened to any of Jonathan Keeble’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to a lot of Jonathan Keeble stories and this is one of his best.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

"Grimaldus. Die well."

Any additional comments?

Highly recommend.

My first and forever best warhammer story

This is an excellent story that uses many techniques efficiently, while also displaying a great passion for its characters and world. There are few stories out there that can capture and emulate tone so immersively. I always compare this story to lord of the rings helms deep, with how it can capture scale and intensity of a siege and while it is much longer and larger, it never loses the feel, but rather deepens it. Grimmaldus is an exemplary character for both his nobility and prejudice. Such characters are hard to write for one can easily forget such an imbalance of character when writing. I feel he is somewhat comparable to Kaladin from the Stormlight Archives, who is also an honorable yet prejudice character.
There really is too much to say about this book, for it so easily handles numerous characters and settings all within a city, never once losing the feel of being under a siege. This is a book i highly recommend to not only warhammer fans or military sci fi fans, but to those that enjoy a fantastic story with fantastic characters.

No Pity! No Remorse! No Fear!

Whether you're an initiate to the Warhammer 40k universe or a veteran of old, this book is gold.

Jonathan Keeble is the perfect voice to narrate, providing just the right mix of solemnity, utility, and hostility befitting the Imperium of Man.

Epic would not begin to approach this story's scale, but it tries gloriously.

This is one of Grimdark's finest, enjoy.

A good introduction into the Warhammer universe

I really did love this book. It maybe very long but I think that's what makes it they're enjoyable, it's not a rushed or filled with fluff, it all comes together in the end and I recommend this to anyone that wants to taste a bit of what Warhammer is all about
