About this listen

Elissande Edgerton is a desperate woman, a virtual prisoner in the home of her tyrannical uncle. Only through marriage can she claim the freedom she craves. But how to catch the perfect man?

Lord Vere is used to baiting irresistible traps. As a secret agent for the government, he's tracked down some of the most devious criminals in London, all the while maintaining his cover as one of society's most harmless - and idiotic - bachelors. But nothing can prepare him for the scandal of being ensnared by Elissande. Forced into a marriage of convenience, Elissande and Vere are each about to discover that they're not the only ones with a hidden agenda. With seduction their only weapon - and a dark secret from the past endangering both their lives - can they learn to trust each other even as they surrender to a passion that won't be denied?

Great read

The book is. Very good and while the hero’s facade might be far fetched, it is very well developed. The title is misleading but the narrator is outstanding.
This is my first book for the author and narrator, I look forward to more of there books

Good story. Great narrator.

The story was pretty good. I got a little confused at time with the background info but yeah it wasn’t bad. I liked the characters and felt they acted like real people. The best part is the narrator, she had great voices, they were consistent and didn’t distract from the story ever.

Intense

After I started listening, I realized that I had listened to it once before. It was worth listening twice. I missed a few things the first time. I laughed out loud a couple of times especially when she was trying to trick him into marriage. The author made you see the tripping and tangled curtain and limbs. It was quite intense several times too without gore

Who need whom

Great story about going undercover for the crown. The need to escape was great. A few days to plan it. Luckily the right man was there to be capture.

Wonderful!

This was a great book. The romance was fantastic, the love scenes beautiful, and the mystery juicy. And it was read by Kate Reading. What's not to love?

Elissande: A prisoner in her evil uncle Edmund Douglas' house all her life, she knows it's only a matter of time before he kills her aunt. She'll do anything to get them both away from him.

Lord Vere: He is a a secret agent for the crown with an interesting cover: Everyone who knows him, believes he's suffered a brain injury that turned him into an idiot.

How these two meet is awesome to behold, and I love the way the mystery played out. The HEA was very satisfying, too.

All in all, a great way to spend several hours of my time, and I'm becoming a big Sherry Thomas fan, too!

Highly recommended.

Excellent!

Sherry Thomas never disappoints. I love how she builds the drama, reveals the mystery then brings everything to a conclusion.
