Publisher's summary

He's a professional hockey player trying to survive on his new team. I'm just trying to survive.

I'm down to my last dollar. I live day-to-day in a world that doesn't care. Despite my bad luck, I'm a fighter. I never give up. I never stop trying.

Ryan Parker's wealth and generosity set him apart from anyone I know. Yet, I don't trust him. It's nothing personal. I trust no one. But when my bad luck takes a turn for the worse, one person shows up. Ryan Parker.

I do not understand why he bothered because the guy has enough of his own issues to deal with. But I don't have a choice. I need him. It's a matter of survival.

His friendship changed everything. It changed me. I started to believe in myself. I allowed myself to trust. And for the first time in a long time, I felt my heart beat again.

Contains mature themes.

Story: good. Narrative: awful

I had a large number of audible books, and have never understood why anyone would want to change the speed—until now. Male narrative is so slow, I had to go to 1.25 for the Ryan chapters, and switch back to normal 1.0 for Zoe. Pretty much a pain. And while the story is good, it was a little too long and drawn out.

Good book but..

Overall a great book, but there were times it was very frustrating that the main female character doesn’t fight back or speak for herself when she needs to. This is the second book and I can see that’s a theme.

OmG👏❤️

This book is fantastic. Initially I didn’t want to read about a homeless romance. But it was one of the best touching stories I’ve read. I cried, I laughed, I was hooked instantly. Only complaint is why do I have to wait until the last two chapters for spice. I’m reading for the spice so that was disappointing. But the story definitely makes up for the lack of spice. Highly recommend it.

Slow burn hockey romance

I have been looking for another slow burn romance and this book was exactly what I needed. I wasn’t sure the author could pull off the power differential between the characters, but I think she navigates this well in the end.

Fantastic!

Loved this story. Kept me intrigued. Enough angyst, humor, sadness, happiness, & spice. I will be listening to next book. Narration was great. Although, the female narrator sounded like she just read the script, without enthusiasm...she did not have an irritating voice, so it was great!

My favorite out of the series!

I'm that into spicy, but I loved this series! This book was my favorite, I really felt these characters has opposite personalities, they finally figured out they complimented one another. I also loved the characters from the other books were incorporated. I read this book so many times its embarrassing, I would love to see more of Ryan and Zoe!

Alex Kydd and Madeleine Dauer Are a Dream Team!

Surprising good story. Based on the cover image, I was worried this might be corny, but it was very sweet, funny, and entertaining. Could listen to Kydd talk all day. Seriously, not sure what is up with other reviewers. He has a great narrative voice. I will admit it takes a few seconds to get used to it, but once you try it, you're hooked! Can't wait to listen to Kydd and Dauer in the next one!

Great narrators! Lovely hockey romance

Zoey lives on the streets after being released from the foster system. She meets Ryan, a hockey player new to the Vancouver Wolves team who’s trying to get connected with his new teammates. He generously and without an agenda besides compassion, he gives Zoey a job as his personal assistant and a room of her own in his fancy apartment. After her time living rough she is initially suspicious of his motives until she truly sees that he’s a good man and begins to trust again.

Talented narrators bring the characters to life!
