About this listen

Congratulations! You've been hired by a client to get something done. Presumably, you have some sort of expertise in the area, you have someone on your team who is knowledgeable, or you'll be hiring somebody who does.

This book provides some of the lessons I've learned over my 35-year career about managing consulting projects.

You will learn:

  • How to create a Statement of Work and what the SOW should include
  • How to control change
  • Controlling the chaos of a project
  • What to do about the micromanaging client
  • How to handle meetings
  • How to communicate with your client
  • What to do when it all goes south

Very worth the small amount of $ this costs

Great info, succinct, practical information on managing short contracts and consulting gigs! Very applicable to PMI processes on a small, individual scale.

Simple, brief, and good advice

As a new consultant, I’ve been listening to many audiobooks in Consulting. This book is among the valuable ones with real world how to’s. How to write a SOW, how to handle a micromanaging client, how to handle a non-paying client, how to terminate a contract, how to document the completion of work, and how & when to ask for testimonials.
Well worth the few $!!

book is more of a reminder with little insight

voice of narrator sonunded like a broken machine, information is basic, no significant insight, book is a quick listen, if anything it can serve as a template on things that need to be done that are common sense

Crash course on the consulting process

I’m a student about to enter the consulting world. I found this book helpful in increasing my understanding of how a consulting project is executed from start to finish. It’s just a no frills, step by step explanation of the consulting process.
