About this listen

This short and powerful self-help audiobook was uniquely designed by an author who has both professional and extensive personal experience with schizophrenia.

The author introduces you to the illness, its symptoms, and causes. Stephanie Anne Allen goes on to share her own intimate battle with the devastating mental illness. She then describes exactly what methods, tips, and guidelines she used to cope with and overcome the illness.

She provides you with hope, by her own example, that recovery from this mental illness is possible. And to top it all off, Stephanie ends with some very deep inspirational quotes dedicated entirely to those who suffer from schizophrenia.

I found the author to be so helpful in her tips and inspirational as you learn her own battle with mental health.

I also love the narrator.

Short and sweet!

I live with mental illness. This series did a great job of helping me understand different mental illnesses, and how to cope with them. These books weren’t too intellectual, meaning they didn’t get super technical, and spoke in a way that I could understand.

This book starts out unorganized at first and becomes more organized around chapter 3. It's unclear who the intended audience is at first. It switches between "they," "schizophrenics," and "people with schizophrenia." It doesn't use people first language through the entire book, and the narrator uses a tone that makes it sound like she's reading a children's book before the author introduces her own struggles with schizophrenia in chapter 3. Overall, there is still a lot of great information, encouragement, and coping skills in this book. I would still recommend it. This book was given to me for free at my request, and I provided this voluntary review.

I should say a treasure for persons with schizophrenia. Ms. Allen is a lioness. What she says is a true way to defeat schizophrenia. All people should follow what she says. And definitely keep the faith. People who have reached the light at the end of the tunnel truly should be the ones to listen to. Thank you ms. Allen.

First off let me say I was happy and excited to hear that Holly Holt was now reading this book. She is one of my favorite now Raiders, of which I only have three. Now onto the book how to survive schizophrenia is written by Stephanie and Alan who is not a doctor but is a sufferer of schizophrenia and other maladies and through that she uses her experience to help others. She suffered with schizophrenia for 11 years and through all that time in hell she still has the compassion to help others I find that admirable and when it comes with such and educating narrative it is also commendable. This is a good book.

Educating and informative
