About this listen

If you are looking for epic space battles, if you are looking for generals achieving victory through genius tactics, if you are looking for berserker warriors carrying empires aloft on their swords, look elsewhere my friends. Here, you will find laughter. Here, a quartermaster must discover why the human insists that the mass produced broom, identical down to the molecule to every other broom on the base, is the "wrong" broom, and why and how they expect him to fix it. Here, aliens learn the meaning of "enough C4". Here, a medic meets the challenge of understanding why a human thinks it can survive on chocolate cake. Here, Monty Python meets Star Trek.

These are some pretty good stories and I am glad I could listen to them all in 1 book. Even though I love to read, it can be hard to read some of the words from this story so I am glad I could listen to it while working.

Great stories!

I really enjoyed this look at human eccentricities through the eyes of alien observers.

An excellent and entertaining book.

I first heard a couple of her short stories on YouTube though the Agro Squirrel Narrates channel. The concept behind the stories is interesting and leads to manny amusing situations. My only criticism is I wish she had had someone more experienced, do the narration. While her reading was adequate, there where time when she seemed to rush though a chapter and, sometimes, fumble a word, here and there. But overall, a very good book.

One of the worst performances I've experienced; lots of stumbling over words, background noise (things falling over, keyboard clicking), terrible emphasis, poor enunciation, poor pacing. It isn't really a story, more a collection of anecdotes. Interesting enough for what it is.

Meh

I am a fan of HFY stories, and I enjoyed reading this story, after the unedited narration made me put down the audiobook. It wasn’t the best, mostly about the communication and mundane difference between cultures. I was more hoping for a bit more humorous culture shock and aliens having issues grasping slang phrases and colloquialisms. The aliens seemed more a child than a researcher from an alien race.
The biggest issues with the narration is it sounds like the final proof read or a old TalkBoy recording from the early 90s. There is a constant electronic buzz.
Also there doesn’t seem to have any editing to dialogue, like one long take. There are periodic keystrokes can be heard, mispronounced and the following correction (E.G. start of chapter 11 Nike), and silences long enough to make me check of Audible was still playing.

Interesting story ruined by narration

It seems like a child was asked to read this one, rather than a professional. I couldn't finish it.
