About this listen

""A marvelous sequel to Huron Breeze. It's thrilling and absorbing—a wonderful whodunit mystery."
—David Dobiasek, "The Voice" of Best Thriller Books

Labor Day Weekend—one last taste of summer.

In the quiet, sunrise-side town of Hampstead, Michigan, Rachel Roberts descends the stairs in her beach house, ready to sit on the back deck, have a glass of wine, and feel the Huron breezes come in from the water as the stars start to glow in the night sky above.

But everything changes when she sees headlights coming down her driveway. As the vehicle approaches, she becomes both excited and puzzled. Excited, because the vehicle belongs to her friend, retired Hampstead P.I. Obadiah Ben-David. Puzzled, because she has no idea why he is paying her an evening visit.

She soon learns that death has returned to Hampstead.

There has been an apparent murder-suicide involving the dazzling, socialite couple Artie and Misty Jensen in their mansion located in the posh, gated, beach-side neighborhood of Falcon Crest, and Ben-David has been asked to lend a hand as Hampstead's new P.I. has been called away to deal with a family emergency. Ben-David is confident that it will be a quick visit to Falcon Crest. Whereas the murder case last summer was mystifying and treacherous, this one seems to be straightforward. Nevertheless, he would like for Rachel to be a second set of eyes for him when he examines the crime scene.

She accepts.

She shouldn't have.

For when the final days of summer arrive, the temperatures begin to cool . . . and the Huron nights heat up.

If you are a fan of James Patterson, Janet Evanovich, Robert B. Parker, Louise Penny, Michael Connelly, Nora Roberts, John D. MacDonald, Lisa Gardner, John Grisham's Camino series, or the TV series Castle, you'll enjoy Huron Nights, Landon Beach's Great Lakes Saga, and Landon Beach's stand-alone psychological thriller, Narrator.

I didn’t know for sure if I could finish this book because I was having problems getting into it at the start, but once I gave it a chance, I really was into it and found it a very delightful read with all this twist and turns

Slow start, but worth the read

The overall story had lots to keep you hanging on and couldn’t wait to get back to it.

Great listen

I suffered through Huron Breeze and figured I’d give this one a try. Obadiah Ben David is a good character as is Rachel Roberts. The problem with these books is the writer’s ridiculous use of superfluous “prose” just to get the words and pages in. I basically finished these books for the laughs I would get from some of the nonsensical quotes the characters had. My favorite from this one had to be Marc Jensen saying “Then he started humming my favorite song from West Side Story”. So the video game playing, pot head bum is also a connoisseur of Broadway? Come on dude… Once I realized the next book in the series is an actual Adrian Astra book (hahahaha) I had to call time on my futile attempt at completing the series.

Came for Scott Brick

This is another spectacular plot from Landon Beach with one of my favorite characters. I'm not sure how he manages to keep all the different story lines flowing seamlessly, but it's true talent. if you loved book 1 in the series this one will not disappoint and I can't wait to read book 3!

Masterful

OUTSTANDING

Truly a timely read - this one, in the month of December! You’ll find out why if you read it! Author Rachel Roberts pairs up with P.I. Obadiah Ben-David once again to investigate a death in Hampstead, Michigan….which is just what she needed to get her creative juices flowing again after some personal struggles. I love the familiar “faces” & relationships that Mr Beach brings back in this book - like seeing family again. Drama, mystery, suspense, romance - it’s all here. Treat yourself!!!!!

Reconnecting with my old friends!

I’ve listened to over 1000 books and now struggle to find books that I find interesting. I would listen to Scott Brick read the phone book so this was an easy sell.
It’s a good plot with characters that I’ve grown invested in AND a fantastic narrator!

A hidden gem!
