Just when she believes they are safe, she finds out the man she saved could possibly be more dangerous than the severe weather.

Donovan Goldwyn only wanted to hide from the police, but the hurricane shoved his car into a tree. Now he's trapped with a beautiful woman while the evidence that can prove his innocence to a brutal crime is out there for anyone to find.

Fantastic

A short and thrilling story. A woman and a man in the middle of a raging hurricane, a murder, corrupt police and even a blooming romance... Shees! it's really amazing how much action was packed in such a short time!

A quick read, very entertaining and really good.

A Romance Short Story With Some Suspense Added

2.5 out of 5 stars

Hurricane Crimes tells the story of an unlikely pair who meets under incredible circumstances. Beth is forced to ride out Hurricane Sabrina at her home in Florida. While riding out the storm she happens to find a man knocked out in his car near her house. She saves him, brings him inside and finds out that there may be more to him than meets the eye.

First and foremost – this is right on the cusp of being a book that I wouldn’t normally read and review. The cover (and the script-y font of the publishing company) tell me that this is going to be a romance novel. I went into it figuring that it wasn’t going to be for me. But I was surprised at the amount of tension that Fey was able to build in just over an hour. There were at least three of four times that you thought something was going to happen and ether the other did or the suspected bad-guy would talk himself out of.

I may have unfairly judged this book by its cover – but at its heart, it is a romance novel with some thriller aspects and a little mystery. (Spoilers ahead) Strangers meet, they shouldn’t get along, but they do. They fall head over heels for each other due to the dire circumstance that they’re in and.. they do it. Sure, there is an over-arching story of a murder and a cover-up, but the heart of this novel is romance. There weren’t any super dirty or blushingly bad parts to this (I’m not a romance reader, so I don’t know what’s in those books).

Overall, not for me, but if you enjoy quick hitting short story with some enjoyable suspense parts (and you enjoy Romance novels) then Hurricane Crimes if for you.

Great storyline! Surprising Twists!

As someone who lived through Hurricane Sandy, This story peaked my interest.

There were surprising twists that I hadn’t expected throughout the story. The author was able to bring shocking revelations at the perfect moment. Characters were easy to follow.

I truly enjoyed how the author gave Hurricane Sandy a physical sense of being. As if the hurricane were an actual person grasping at the coastline and tearing it away. Very well written.

Loved it!

I'm normally more of a paranormal romance, urban fantasy kind of girl. However, this had me hooked from the beginning. I listened to it all the way through without even stopping. That's how good it was. I look forward to reading and listening to more from this author.

Good story even if too short

This is the story of a woman who rescues a man from a wreck only to discover his is fleeing from the police. She listens to his story and finds that he is being pursued by the police who have just killed his brother and they set about finding the evidence they need to prove he did not do it and to bring the guilty parties to justice.

Impossible love

This is a short but action filled story about Beth who is trying to ride out Hurricane Katrina alone, when she comes to the aid of Donovan who has crashed and blacked out in his car. She drags him into her home to tend to his wounds and inadvertently discovers he might be a very dangerous man. There is a tug of war of emotions for Beth who is torn between her instant attraction to Donovan and the fact that he may do her serious harm. Donovan claims he is an innocent man who quickly falls for Beth. The question is, is he telling the truth, can Beth trust him or will she end up paying with her life.

I wasn't quite sold by the quick romance between Beth and Donovan, but they were in life or death circumstances which changes the perspective. That said Beth comes across as a little naive at times and I didn't find it very believable when the "L" word was thrown about. But for those who believe in love a first sight this won't be a problem. Overall I thought it was a pretty good book, well narrated by Craig Long.

I was given this book for free of my own choosing and voluntarily left this review.

Trouble blowing in

Our heroine is hunkering down to ride out the hurricane when she witnesses a car crash. She rescues our hero and brings him to shelter, only to find out he is a suspected murderer. Trapped in the house, she has to decide who to trust: our hero or the police?

This is a short romantic suspense story set in the middle of a Florida hurricane. The story is well written and easy to read (or listen to) with a small cast with big problems. The characters are solid and well done, which is often a challenge in a short story like this one. The plot is straight forward, but also packs its share of twists and turns to keep things interesting. Overall, I really enjoyed this story and I look forward to more from this author.

Hlghly recommended.

Hurricane romance and some mayhem...

Would you risk your life during a hurricane to safe another? That's what Beth does when she witnesses a car crash in front of her house. Beth assists the injured driver out of the car and into her house. Only, once inside and before the power goes out, Beth sees a news piece about an murderer on the run from police...and of course the photo is of her injured guy! This is a fast moving novella that includes bad cops, murder and the devastating aftermath of a hurricane...also a bit of romance. A little bit unbelievable for the romance aspect, due to the short time but still a good story.

Hurricane Crimes

Beth should have evacuated sooner when all her neighbors left. Surely one of them would have let her leave with them since her car wouldn't start. Now she's stuck and sees a car crash into a tree. Bringing the man inside is life-threatening. She got him inside and tended his wounds--then she saw his picture on TV and it wasn't about the accident.

I enjoyed the narration, the tension-filled storyline, and the characters. It would have been a 5 star all the way around if the insta-love had been more insta-really like. That is always a difficult task in a novella. I have the whole series and can't wait to listen and read them all.

Wished there had been more

I wished there had been more, but that is always the case with a novella. I enjoyed the story, the descriptions make you feel like you were being blown and battered around in the hurricane. Good job Ms. Fey. The characters attraction sizzled. The various twists and turns kept you guessing as to the outcome. A good beginning to a great series. I've enjoyed all of Chrys Fey's Disaster Crime books and highly recommend them.
