About this listen

In this complete pocket guide to a hygge life, make your home a cozy oasis. Learn to cook, decorate, and host Danishly. Unlock the powers of relaxation and comfort. Get hygge recipes.

It’s time to slow down. It’s time to take stock of your life. It’s time to find out what really makes you happy. It’s time to re-prioritize and focus on what really matters. It’s time to spend time with the ones you love the most.

Hygge is the long-standing Danish tradition of living a cozy, happy life of hospitality, joy, and comfort. This book makes this tradition accessible to you in a new way. Instead of droning on about how you need to find inner peace and how you need to work less and play more, this book is packed with actionable strategies for making your life more hygge!

  • How to relax, hygge-style
  • How hygge can help you manage stress
  • Hygge cooking and baking and eating
  • Hygge hosting and entertaining
  • Decorating and turning your home into a hygge sanctuary
  • Hygge for the whole family
  • Better time management with hygge minimalism
  • Hygge and how it can make your more mindful

Plus! There is a bonus section with my favorite hygge comfort food recipes! Hot drinks, decadent sweets, and comforting snacks and bites, will make a great addition to your kitchen hygge ritual.

The secret to hygge is learning to draw happiness out of everything around you. This book talks you through the steps. You are free to live the life of your choosing, and you are free to enjoy it to the fullest. What are you waiting for?

I really liked this book.

Philosophy of hygge and the related philosophy of minimalism might contribute to happiness, a healthier environment, and more general life satisfaction. It was an easy read and I felt like the book gave some interesting perspective to hygge that finding hygge can be different for each person.

This is a quick read and I think worth your time. If you need to pull yourself away from work, connect with family and friends, spend time in nature, watch movies that help you unwind, enjoy treating yourself to a cup of tea or hot cocoa or a special coffee, but you're too busy, then do read this book. With a cuppa. And a candle!

Book for the cozy & content obsessed!!!!

Hygge is essentially the art of living a cozy life. In Hygge: the Danish Art of Coziness and Happiness, author, Barbara Hayden provides a compelling argument of how living a simple life mingled with comfort and simple pleasures are as essential to a joyful life as air is to our bodies.

Non-Danish can hygge, too.

Having listened to other books on hygge by different authors, this book imparted that while the word hygge is Danish, we must discover how to bring ourselves into our very own niche of calm and comfort.

Enjoyed

As this book states, Hygge is a lifestyle, not just a concept. It requires practice to reprogram our brains from an incredibly fast-paced lifestyle. I found this book to be an intro to that lifestyle. The concepts are not new, and some bits were repeated. As I was listening to, I viewed the options for the hygge lifestyle as reminders for daily living as I do live a lot of them already. Physical comfort is important to me. Also, I enjoyed the links to articles that backed up
