Another Great Book in the Series

Book IV is adding to the already riveting story. It is also easy to hear the passion Christopher Hopper puts into his voice acting. You can hear the authenticity he wants to convey to the listener with how much emotion he puts into each character. This is another great listen in the series.

Continues to be one of the best Sci-Fi series out

Imperium Descent IV picks up two weeks after the devastating events that took place on Kaletto.
Our Heroes have been left shattered by the carnage that was unleashed by the First Stratus on the Excreants that had lived so peacefully in the wreckage of the Sorvanna under the branches of the Pallador tree Karadelle.
Now however, there are only 262 survivors, huddling together on Cirra thanks to the benevolence of Alteri Lamdin.
Orelia is shattered by what has happened, the loss of so many, including her parents. And worse still she discovers that young Tess has been grievously injured during the escape from Kaletto. Whilst she lives, she has a serious brain injury, one affecting her memory, and that will ultimately claim her life.
But all is not lost, new friends and allies may yet provide hope for both Tess and Orelia.
Hale is just as heart broken by the losses, but turns that pain into the need to do something. His former Stratus training pushes him to continue the mission – to reach out and find more Excreants and rescue them.
It is fascinating watching Hale, as he battles with himself, he pushes Dell telling him that they can’t call them Excreants anymore, that it is the Supreme and his Ilk that should be considered the outcasts for how they treat people, and he is desperate to help the survivors of Kaletto. But at the same time, he is also desperate to get on with the next mission.
Meanwhile, Orelia, ever the diplomat, is content with looking after the current survivors, with establishing an operation before moving into anything new. She wants to take time, and recover from all that has happened as she does not have the military training either. However, she is also a strong willed, powerful person, and understands the fight is not done, and sees value in Hale’s plans – just not right away.
The two opposing points, and how these two major characters come at them is fascinating to watch.
Ultimately, Orelia must see to the needs of the survivors, especially her friend Tess. Whilst helping Tess, Hale learns something of his past however, and this gives him the journey, the mission he so desperately craves, and he sets off to try and understand this new power that seems to be forming within him.
Meanwhile, as our heroes try to come to terms with their new situations, and save those that remain from Kaletto, Sedarious Kull has broken away with the First Stratus from the Supreme and the Empire. He no longer believes in the ideals of the Supreme, and so there is civil unrest forming within what was once a united Empire, as not only are the ‘Excreants’ rising throughout the known colonies as a result of the action on Kaletto, but now the Stratus has shattered as well.
This is a story with multiple facets, full of incredibly indepth characters, storylines, and political intrigue spanning a galaxy that is slowly unraveling as an Empire that has stood for lifetimes is slowly coming undone.
The character work continues to be exceptional, with Hopper providing a masterclass in Sci-Fi Space Opera characters from Hale, with his Kit Harrington good looks, Han Solo like luck and charm, you can’t help but love him. Hale is the straight man to his friend Dell, the consummate comedian, who is like Lando Calrissian in Spec Op Armour.
Orelia continues to be the stunningly beautiful Princess that holds her people together, compassionate, charismatic, intelligent, and with combat skills that no one sees coming until you’re lying on your back. Orelia is brilliant.
This book is full of captivating characters that leave you inspired, in awe, and totally enthralled by the masterful writing.
It is not just the characters that are outstanding though, the world-building is breathtaking, with cityscapes, planets, creatures are not only creative, but just remarkable. The descriptive work, from combat, to the beautiful character art is extraordinary, with one standout – Pi Tae being so magnificent that they have become one of my favourite characters in any story I have read in recent times.
This continues to be such an epic tale of stunning scope, putting it in league with some of those tales of old like 2001 and Foundation, in which you are just in awe of the storytelling and those that are telling it.
If you love Space Opera, Sci-Fi, Galactic Empire, Military, then this is the book for you – it is not to be missed.
Christopher Hopper has a marvelous voice, one you can listen to for ages without tiring of it. He has a really soft spoken nature, so it is easy to listen to him narrate for extended periods. He does a stunning range of both male and female voices, all very easy to understand, and each with such a clear and distinctive voice that you can easily tell who is speaking from one character to the next without having to be told. He does a brilliant job with his character voices, bringing the story to life, with not just different voices, but using the emotional state of the characters to really capture what is happening in the story at that point in time. It creates a riveting and captivating Narration like no other, in which Hopper really brings his characters and story to life. An absolute must for anyone who is a fan, but also wants too really get into this story – so much better than reading it!!

Absolutely Yes 💯

I'm heavily invested into this series and characters. I've also got some serious Book-Crushes on both Rim and Dell - and let me tell ya that Appendium is only making me Book-Crush harder. The series is narrated by the books author, which in my experience isn't always the best, with exceptions few and far between. And without question, Christopher Hopper's narration is AMAZING! And not only "amazing for an author", I mean AMAZING for an audiobook voice actor! his narration really makes his story and the characters come together! I love this story, the characters, the narration, and I'm looking forward to many more to come (I hope)!

Engaging story - EXCELLENT narration

Christopher Hopper creates exciting stories with characters you LOVE and LOVE to HATE. I could recommend this just to hear how Hopper voices Gramps and Lula - but the book is well worth a listen on its own merits!
