Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Kevin Hearne returns to the world of his beloved Iron Druid Chronicles in a spin-off series about an eccentric master of rare magic solving an uncanny mystery in Scotland.

"A terrific kick-off of a new, action-packed, enchantingly fun series." (Booklist)

Al MacBharrais is both blessed and cursed. He is blessed with an extraordinary white moustache, an appreciation for craft cocktails - and a most unique magical talent. He can cast spells with magically enchanted ink and he uses his gifts to protect our world from rogue minions of various pantheons, especially the Fae.

But he is also cursed. Anyone who hears his voice will begin to feel an inexplicable hatred for Al, so he can only communicate through the written word or speech apps. And his apprentices keep dying in peculiar freak accidents. As his personal life crumbles around him, he devotes his life to his work, all the while trying to crack the secret of his curse.

But when his latest apprentice, Gordie, turns up dead in his Glasgow flat, Al discovers evidence that Gordie was living a secret life of crime. Now Al is forced to play detective - while avoiding actual detectives who are wondering why death seems to always follow Al. Investigating his apprentice’s death will take him through Scotland’s magical underworld, and he’ll need the help of a mischievous hobgoblin if he’s to survive.

A great addition to the Iron Druid universe

I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about the Iron Druid universe. In fact, this may be my favorite of Hearne's tales. I highly recommend it.

Fantastic!

Great start to a new series. Luke Daniels narration is amazing, even though I'm sure he moaned at having to do so many accents lol

I will definitely continue the series.

Like a hug for the soul

Ink and Sigil is a fun, goofy, and new look at the world created by Kevin Hearne. The magic system feels new, but familiar to his Iron druid series and Luke Daniels is a master of voices and accents. Would highly recommend!

In all the best traditions of The Iron Druid

A more foul language, but it almost seams appropriate. Loving Buck, and Gladys is going to be an interesting character to develope.

As usual, Luke Daniel's nailed it. 👌

Great ride do not fear

TL;DR: fun book some political commentary. But more fun than pain. Accent is dense but well done. Listen to sample.

I almost did not read this because of the reviews but that would have been a mistake.

Yes believe the other reviews most of them. Really fun book. really good addition to the iron Druid universe. Also believe that if you need a completely politics/social commentary free book, this would not be the right book for you. The author is not a conservative and the book contains 5-6 lines the touch politics. If your beliefs are shaken or you just can’t handle any commentary on the right now state of the world (sept 2020) in the authors opinion, do not read this. If you are ok by being told about the authors veiw of the world and have a awesome time back in the fully flushed world the writer make, then you are in for a treat. The characters are fun, sad, complex and interesting. It’s a cool and fresh look at how the secret iron Druid world works. Read it have fun.

Oh ya accents Portrayed are dense and if you have issues understanding accents you might want to all past this one. But if you listen to the sample and it’s ok then book is ok.

Good luck good reading and stay safe all.

Great!

Refreshing take on the Iron Druid world.
New characters and story line with small appearances from a few old characters. Entertaining and fun. Love Hearnes outlooks.

Good book... great performance

Luke Daniels is a favorite narrator for me. Enjoyed the book. Good escape from day to day. Not overly preaching about social topics. Touches on human trafficking however it is integral to the plot and is very well done.

Spiffy storytelling

All the features I sparked to in the Iron Druid series - the humor, snappy character interactions, and plot with all the wonderful books and crannies. Taken to the next level by the performance. One person had a full range of species, gender, and country/region of origin - oh, and Siri, too. Blew it out of the park! Delightful.
