About this listen

From a leading pediatric sleep physician comes a revolutionary program that will have everyone in the house sleeping through the night.

When Dr. Craig Canapari became a father, he realized that all his years of 36-hour hospital shifts didn't even come close to preparing him for the sleep deprivation that comes with parenthood. The difference is that parents don’t get a break - it’s hard to know if there’s a night of uninterrupted sleep anywhere in the foreseeable future. Sleepless nights for kids mean sleepless nights for the rest of the family - and a grumpy group around the breakfast table in the morning.

In It's Never Too Late to Sleep Train, Canapari helps parents harness the power of habit to chart a clear path to high-quality sleep for their children. The result is a streamlined two-step sleep training plan that focuses on cues and consequences, the two elements that shape all habits and that take on special importance when it comes to kids’ bedtime routines.

Dr. Canapari distills years of clinical research and experience to make sleep training simple and stress-free. Even if you’ve been told that you’ve missed the optimal "window" for sleep training, Dr. Canapari is here to prove that it's never too late, whether your child is six months or six years old. He's on your side in the battle against bedtime, and with his advice, parents and children alike can expect a lifetime of healthy sleep.

This book is very well written and full of amazing techniques for sleep training at any age. I was having trouble with my 2 and a half year old daughter waking up in the night anywhere from 1 to 10 times per night. I work physical labor and just couldn’t take the zombie state anymore. Many techniques in this book helped tremendously. I actually saw a total change in less than a week with information just from the first 2 chapters. If you are having problems with your kid’s sleep, I would definitely recommend giving this book a chance. The author also has a great sense of humor and makes many anecdotes to remind the parent that they aren’t crazy, raising kids can just be very difficult.

Great resource for sleep training!

This book gave me the needed tools to move my 3 and 4 year old boys into their own bed, FINALLY!!!!!I had two boys fourteen months apart. They lived in our bedroom due to space reasons for the first two years and slept in our bed out of habit developed from nursing. It has been such a long struggle of sleepless nights. We are on day three and have already seen such an improvement! For us, the magic was not laying down with them to go to sleep at night. My husband and I are taking turns with bringing them back to bed during the night. I KNOW this is going to work. I can feel it in my soul. No tears, no anxiety. This was just what we needed! Thank you!

Finally!!! A solid plan that works!

Love that this book doesn’t shame you because of things you did or didn’t do when your child was younger. It gives you real tips to improve sleep and actions you can take NOW to improve your child’s sleep. This is helpful for children of all ages and addresses many issues including nursing to sleep, curtain calls after bedtime, setting appropriate bedtimes, etc. Loved it and would highly recommend!

Great tips for older children

I was desperate and this gave me lots of ideas to solve our 2 year old's coup of our bed. Fingers crossed that it will work. It's not rocket science, but courage and a plan. It discusses several sleep theories and practical application of the best of each of them.

Can’t still believe we could transition our 2.5 years toddler from cosleeping and multiple night awakenings to sleeping 12 hours of uniterrtupted sleep at this age. It significantly changed her quality of sleep and she is well rested throughout the day and we could spend quality time. We never thought it was possible but it became possible with guidance of Dr Canapari. Thank you so much - it’s never too late is so true!!!

Words are not enough to thank Dr Canapari. Dream sleep came true

I enjoyed this book and found some helpful tips, but i felt like it was geared more towards older children who can communicate and be reasoned with as opposed to babies and young toddlers who do not have fully developed language skills yet. It also didn't give much insight or advice for breastfeeding mothers when it comes to things such as stopping night feedings or transitioning to falling asleep independently when the child is used to nursing to sleep. He quickly touched on the topic, but didn't go in depth or really offer much advice or solutions. My biggest disappointment was there was no guidance as to what to do when a child wakes up in the middle of the night or just won't go to sleep and is wide awake and ready to play.

Good book, but geared more towards older children
