About this listen

A damaged soul. A madman plotting in the shadows. The city won't stand for long.

With the armies of undead slowly encircling Greendown, James Holden doesn't have much time to get behind its walls before the witches and vampires of the northern mountains finish closing in. He'll have to get his lich-cursed apprentice and the rest of their party through hundreds of miles of ghoul-infested forest before it's too late to save the city.

Burning through the limits a mortal should have is catching up to James, and unless he can find a way to repair the damage, his magic is as deadly to him as it is to his enemies. In a world where only the strongest get to make the rules, he can't afford to be left behind. He'll need to find a way to keep pace with those he's training, even as the planet's most powerful warriors hunt for his head at the behest of the gods.

It's time for the Judge to do something different. James Holden might have to pass Judgment by Jury.

Great story but to much filler

I honestly love the character but the author puts in so much filler it seems like he gets nothing done. The progression seems slow to because of that. Even though he does move up in power.

Good continuation

Michael does a good job with the continuation of this series. He continues to world and character build a fascinating story. I look forward to the next one

Superb contiuation of the series

Michael Head nails the follow-on book in the series.

James Holden (aka The Judge) continues his drive to complete quests, the primary one being to reach the 3rd Place of Power in which he needs to absorb its power to reach the next power-up level. He is accompanied with small group of companions, one of which is, unknowingly, tasked to kill him ... reasons.

The author continues to an entertaining blend of dramatic dialog and humorous interludes, all of which Neil Hellegers' performance skills masterfully delivers. My only disappointment is that the most visible villain isn't adjudicated for good, however, that was a tiny nit.

If you haven't purchased Book 1 then you'll want to do so because, like Book 1, Book 2 is way worth the credit.

Good Story,

In this book, no alot happens, but it was brought a clean ending. I felt like this book should of been 25% longer to payoff things mentioned in the previous book..however, and I have to mention the part when the characters IQ dropped by 90 points for a couple of paragraphs was rediclou

Wow

Good litrpg books are notoriously rare. So far I’ve only encountered this series, and Eric Ugland’s The Good Guys. Everything else has been shockingly horrible. It’s not that litrpg books are badly written, per se. I mean, they are, but my problem is with their characters, which tend to be dense and immoral. By contrast, James Holden is kind, introspective, intelligent, etc. Again, very very few litrpg novels have main characters that are anything other than braindead selfish dipshits, so “Judge” is an amazing find.

Its a pretty good book.

A nice addition to the sieries, better than most of what I've been listening to. Im glad he didnt spend all his time trying to be some kind of mentor. A better second book than the first.

Judging a Siege

Jury

The undead of this world are going to prove a problem for James Holden. He barely survived his first major encounter with them and that was only a portion of the army. Now, another wing of the army has their undead eyes on the city of Greendown. James and his team will have a lot of work ahead of them with this siege. That’s no even accounting for the powerful Green Wardens hunting for him or the deranged White Wardens.

I am really enjoying this series! It’s always fun to see an overpowered character encounter something new that they can’t immediately overcome. The new characters are very interesting and I do hope that they appear again in the next book! Neil Hellegers did an excellent job with the narration.
