About this listen

The war begins....

The world of Ruin erupts into the flames of war as a great evil rises once more from the Tombs of Eternal Midnight. Werewolves and vampires march from the east, the orcs of Umnoth are on the move, and cities disappear beneath the boots of these savage hordes. Kingdoms field desperate armies in a last desperate bid to stop the tides of darkness, but the truth is clear.

The hour of final ruin has come.

Yet the wizard Vandahar has one more card to play: Rangers. Allied with elves and dwarves, they set out to strike at the very heart of the evil Lich Pharaoh’s domain by attacking from a wholly unexpected direction.

Survival. Asymmetrical warfare. Total surprise. This is what the Rangers do best.

But first they must survive the Citadel.

What the forces of evil have started, the Rangers will finish!

Excellent series, the ending ticked me off some, just because it’s such a cliff hanger. Here audible take my money.

Great series

Oh boy. To keep it frank I rate a story based on a few key points. Usually they're summed up by "how much I'm emotionally invested and mentally stimulated". When Tanner (who is a Revanant for anyone not versed in irish mythology or d&d) started "writing" I actually teared up. As someone who just got done with a break up that part of the story also got my mind and heart turning. As someone raised by and around and dated military vets this also got me engaged. The only problem I have with this is I'm a 29 year old bearded guy crying over a fictional coffee addict. 100% would recommend.

4.7 Audible won't let me do decibels.

So this one was a little darker but, I dig it. I've been following since book 1 and I can't seem to stop listening. The AAR or after actions are really inspiring, humorous and honest and coming from real life door kickers that are so humble makes this all that much more enjoyable.

addicting

I love this series, and this is yet another outstanding addition. The additional interview at the end just makes it even better.

If you have enjoyed the books until now you will like this one. Now I would leave it there but the guidelines says I can’t so here’s the gist of it: We get some more insight into how everyone’s favourite coffee addict is dealing with a certain thing that happened at the end of the last book (spoiler, he’s hurting) and we get to see the Rangers put their plan to deal with Sût the Undying into action. Said plan involves a long and treacherous journey over oceans that contains the stuff of nightmares before they have to cross a desert where the dead rests uneasily.

So if the idea of U.S Army Rangers going up against all that doesn’t intrigue you then I don’t know what to say, my friend!

Excellent as always. ‘Rah!

I really enjoyed the narration of this book. The narrator and authors get you deep into the head of the character and you feel like you really know the main character. It’s an awesome adventure and I can’t wait to start the next instalment.

Keeps getting better

This is a fun and engaging series. Cool back story and great character development. And if you play any form of role-playing game, especially if you are a DM, which I am, this series is a treasure trove of cool adventuring ideas. And I love coffee.

Better & Better

I feel like this has been the weakest book of the series so far. Not because there is anything overtly wrong or missing, but I found myself zoning out more while listening to this one that I usually do from these books.

Not the best in the series
