My mother only wanted me to learn one lesson growing up

Men are trash.

Her father left her, and then my father left us. Being raised by her and my grandmother, I was surrounded by the reminder to be independent and guard my heart.

After my one and only experience with a boy in college fell flatter than a pancake, I realized they were right and I was content to live the life of a twenty-six-year-old cat lady.

Until Will Perry blew my quiet world to smithereens.

Starting goalie for the Tampa Bay Ospreys and the kind of hot that scrambles your brain, all I was ever supposed to be to him was his daughters kindergarten teacher. Then, in a twist of events, his temporary nanny.

But temporary turns to permanent, and when I move into his pool house, everything changes.

He's impossibly grumpy and focused on only two things: hockey, and taking care of his daughter. I'm only focused on using this new income to pay back my student loans.

But in that house, I feel his heated gaze beneath that permanent scowl, the way it lingers and warms my skin. And though I know my mother would lose her mind if she knew, my dreams have become midnight fantasies about my long-haired, muscle-lined mystery of a boss.

When the tension becomes too much, we break, and we make a deal.

He still needs a nanny. I still need a paycheck and for my matriarchy to not disown me. But Will agrees to teach me everything I've always wanted to learn, and I'm all too eager to be his student.

I can do this. I'm a grown woman. I can explore my sexuality with the hottest goalie on earth and still remain one-hundred percent professional. And I can definitely do it all without catching feelings.

I have to.

Otherwise, I'll end up heartbroken in my mothers arms while she shakes her head and asks me if Ill ever learn my lesson.

Single dad/ nanny romance

I enjoyed this one in the series. I have always been a fan of the "lessons" trope and I felt like this one was enjoyable. It is also a nanny X single dad romance and I loved the daughter she was so cute and made this book even more fun. The hero Will has a grumpy attitude but softens a lot for his daughter and the heroine. The heroine Chloe is the daughter's teacher and now also her nanny. She is kinda a loner she loves her cats and her hobbies but has never been the girl with lots of friends. I liked how she opened up and grew close to the hero's chef and his teammate's girlfriends. I didn't feel as connected to this romance as I would have liked but it was still a good book and I would recommend it.

Grumpy x sunshine, single dad x nanny, hockey romance!

Learn Your Lesson is a single dad x nanny, grumpy x sunshine, hockey romance part of Kandi Steiner’s Kings of the Ice series. The first book and this third book in the series are definitely my favorites.

Will is a gruff, hockey player, who the team affectionately have coined “Daddy P” as he takes care of them but also is an actual single dad to his daughter Ava. He lost his wife shortly after Ava was born and his life hasn’t been the same since, now his focuses are his daughter and hockey. When the story kicks off, Will has been having issues keeping a nanny, so when Chloe, Ava’s kindergarten teacher rolls in so effortlessly and gets along with his daughter so well, he feels like he found the perfect nanny replacement!

Chloe is a kindergarten teacher who loves her job and always dreamed of romance, falling in love, and having a family of her own one day. Instead, her social life is nonexistent and she lives with her 3 cats. She grew up with a mom and grandma who both were left and have told Chloe her whole life that all men leave and to not trust their promises. She ends up working for Will and caring for Ava while he’s busy with hockey and she quickly falls for this adorable little family. Soon Will and Ava are feeling all the things and we get loads of steam, spicy lessons, and a no-strings attached type of setup.

This was a fun, easy one to breeze through and I loved that it was Kandi’s first single dad romance! After seeing Will throughout the series, it was fun to finally get his story, especially for the popsicle scene alone! Iykyk 🤭

“I Guess we’re really doing our best”❤️

Kandi Steiner hasn’t let me down yet. Found family, Single dad nanny, grumpy sunshine, Steamy lessons what more can I ask for. Chloe is the best person in the world and she brings the magic to Daddy’s P (Will) and Abha’s world.

Chloe is #1 in my heart

Kandi has done it again! I devoured this story. This was my first time listening to a narration by Max Lindsey and i was extremely impressed! He fully embodied Will’s grumpiness and performed so, so well. Hannah is one of my favorite narrators and she did not let me down with her performance of Chloe! My full review will be on Goodreads/Amazon!

Nice!

Really nice story with good writing and believable dialogue. The narrators did an excellent job as well. The hockey aspect doesn’t overtake the book, which I appreciate. The romance happens at a really good speed, along with the angst you would expect. The single dad aspect is also really well done, as well as the amount of time spent bringing Ava (daughter) into MCs romance. Also an appropriate amount of sexy times that are hot! Really well done.

The beautiful complex relationship.

Loved the storyline and all the heated interaction. Both dreaming and promising. Teased and pleased my own imagination with ease.

🔸I love a good duet narrations!

🔘𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐝 + 𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐲 𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞
🔘𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐲

✨Thoughts✨
I'm a huge fan of Kindi Stainers' books, and this one incorporates some of my favorite story elements. Unfortunately, it fell short for me. There's nothing more disheartening than witnessing a man trapped in the shadows of his past, unable to move forward from his late wife. Though there's nothing inherently wrong with this storyline, I just smelled heartbreak from a mile away, and the female main character still went forward with their arrangement. I can say Chloe was brave or completely crazy.

🔸The male main character lacked any discernible personality and came across as perpetually surly. I genuinely wanted to adore Will, but his actions and motivations remained a mystery to me. As for Chloe, the female lead, I felt bad for her. Furthermore, the chemistry between them failed to ignite any true sparks.

🎧On a positive note, the duet narration was well done. It did feel slightly robotic at times, which wasn't entirely to my liking, but I ultimately found it enjoyable.

🔸Overall, if you appreciate the nanny/single dad dynamic, this book may be worth checking out.

The perfect mix of sweet and spicy!

“𝙔𝙤𝙪.. 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙮 𝙛𝙪𝙘𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙮, 𝘾𝙝𝙡𝙤𝙚. 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙤𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙠 𝙝𝙖𝙯𝙚 𝙄'𝙙 𝙚𝙭𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙨. 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙗𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙪𝙣.”

Single dad romance? Grumpy sunshine? Opposites attract? Hockey romance? Forced proximity? “Teaching”? Nanny romance? Maybe a hand necklace? 👀

Learn Your Lesson is LOADED with the best tropes and Kandi writes it in such an original way. It’s one of the EASIEST 5 star ratings I’ve given out, and I’m still swooning over Chloe and Will.

I am Chloe. Chloe is me. It’s so comforting and refreshing when a character has the same exact nervous ticks that you do. It makes you feel so seen, and shows that sometimes your biggest insecurities are what others love the most about you. They make you YOU. I’ll forever love Kandi for always having her MMCs express that. The WAY he loves her is just 🥹🙌🏻

Ava owns a little piece of my heart. She was the PERFECT piece to Chloe and Will’s story and I loved seeing her and Will both grow and heal, alongside with their evolving relationships with Chloe. They all fell so seemlessly together, but each separate relationship was so developed. It felt so real and BEAUTIFUL 🥹

And WILL PERRY 😮‍💨 that mountain of a MAN. First off, the SPICE?! KANDI?! In my humble opinion, this is by FAR Kandi’s spiciest book. Some of these scenes will be living in my head for the foreseeable future 🥵
Even though this spicy as HELL, I loved how much you could feel the connection between Chloe and Will in every single one of those scenes.

“𝙎𝙞𝙩 𝙤𝙣 𝙢𝙚.
𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙜𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙣 𝙢𝙮 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚, 𝘾𝙝𝙡𝙤𝙚. 𝙎𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙞𝙩. 𝙎𝙞𝙩.”

They truly were just pulled to each other. Every moment between them flew off the pages. They had so much depth, while also just being so FUN. The banter is top tier. Chloe and Will are the new standard for not only “grumpy/sunshine”, but for every single one of the tropes listed at the beginning 🙌🏻 utterly OBSESSED with them.

Hannah Chiclana and Max Lindsey killed the narration! I could feel every emotion!
