About this listen

The stunning new novel from Clare Mackintosh, the international best-selling author of I Let You Go and I See You.

The police say it was suicide.

Anna says it was murder.

They're both wrong.

Last year, Tom and Caroline Johnson chose to end their lives, one seemingly unable to live without the other. Their daughter, Anna, is struggling to come to terms with her parents' deaths, unwilling to accept the verdict of suicide.

Now with a baby herself, Anna feels her mother's absence keenly and is determined to find out what really happened to her parents. But as she digs up the past, someone is trying to stop her.

Sometimes it's safer to let things lie....

On of the better psychological thrillers I have read here lately. The characters are very well developed. There is a bit of intrigue too. Even though I had parts figured out before they were revealed, the story kept my attention.

Very good psychological thriller

Wad confused at times. Didn't understand the hint in the end. Loved the interview at the end.

I'll admit this book has an interesting twist, for gullible old me. Beyond that, I didn't enjoy it. I was frustrated by some of the similarities to Girl on a Train (that were executed far better in that book). My biggest complaint is that I know very little more about the main character at the end of the book than I did at the beginning. She was exceptionally dull.

Interesting twist, but flat characters

I enjoyed the story. It was a bit slow in the beginning for me. But once I got into it, I was eager to see what happened. I imagined a few different characters being “the bad guy” as I was reading, but was surprised with someone I hadn’t thought of. The ending got me. I hate when they’re left open ended!

Surprising end

I really like Clare Mackintosh's books. She is knowledgeable because of her previous career and it just makes the story so good. I liked the characters and sometimes it was heartbreaking with what the character Murray's wife went through and how complex mental illness is.

I thought then ending was good - the ex-friend in prison was truly rotten to the core.

Really good listen

I'm not sure how I would of reacted if I was Anna about my parents' "deaths".

fantastic twist!!!! not what I expected.

What made the experience of listening to Let Me Lie the most enjoyable?

instead of just one good character you were watching several develop through the story. you will have to pay attention to figure out the puzzle.

one of the best listens ever.

A good idea, bit long and slow getting to the meat of story. Bit disappointing. I kept waiting for something really big to happen. Did keep me guessing at times.

Hmmm

An emotional roller-coaster. Twists, lies, and deception. You will never see what's coming in the next chapter. A must listen.

This book exceeded the limits of my medication

Overall the audiobook was quite enjoyable, though some parts seemed farfetched and perhaps a bit too bleak.

Gripping
