About this listen

More decks, more cards, more goblins!

Reborn into a world of magic, Gareth saved his adopted home from the ravages of their ancient enemy. Not that anyone noticed. Whilst the city rebuilds, Gareth turns his attention towards a new goal, the upcoming grand tournament!

If he’s going to compete Gareth will need to get stronger. That means taking on more quests, earning more levels, and discovering powerful new cards for his deck. Along with his friends, a former goddess, a deposed demon lord and their constantly annoyed watcher, he sets off on what sounds like an easy job.

Nothing on Acamida is ever as it seems. As he strives to grow stronger, Gareth will learn secrets that threaten the nature of reality itself. Meanwhile, sinister dark forces are at work within the walls of the city. To come out on top, Gareth will need to master his deck and the powerful magic it holds.

Exceptional

I enthusiastically absorbed every detail of this fantastic story.
Revisiting the wonderful characters once again, felt like going out for a round of drinks with old comrades. Every chapter is packed with magnificent dialog. This is an excellent sequel to Goblin Summoner, and an exceptional piece of literature on its own.

Same as last one

Same narrator as the last book and he’s still making too many mistakes and they are being left in. Pronunciation is a problem.

I really like this series.... But

I hate to bad mouth a narrator, but mad this one needs to learn to add some emotion to his reading. Mags worrying if Gareth is alive or dead or Mags furious after learning of her predicament sounds exactly the same as Mags ordering soup from a shop. I thought it would get better but say it doesn't. I'm going to stick with this series because I really like how the story is unfolding, and the whole magic through cards is an interesting concept. At this point I'm resigned to the fact that the reading will be as even and bland as possible, with no highs or lows at all.

Goblins for the win!

Gareth and his friends survived the siege. Now, there is announcements of a card tournament that could help make their fame. The problem is that they will need to grind some levels to be able to enter. Not to mention, there seems to be a serial killer in the city.

This has been a really interesting series so far. Most LitRPG that I have read pull from video games. This series pulls from collectible card games like Magic. It makes for a very interesting system! The story is solid and well set up!

Really good solid story.

This series reminds me of the Life in Exile series. Completely different, but about the same.

Great!

The narrator stepped up his game and the story progresses wonderfully. The different affinities are interesting and the card game talk is on point.

Building

This book does a lot more for character building and reveals great foreshadowing exciting to see where the story heads in book 3
