About this listen

Jennifer has a great job and a go-getter fiancé. She's on track for success, until she witnesses a fatal hit-and-run. Mistaking Jennifer for someone else, the dying victim extracts an impossible promise. Jennifer's fiancé wants her to forget the whole incident, but when she closes her eyes, she can still see the bloody face of the woman who asked for her help.

Olivia is in a rut. Burdened with caring for her brain-damaged brother and already feeling like a spinster at 27, she's desperate to escape. In a moment of weakness, she tells a lie that draws an unsuspecting paramedic into her life. As she struggles to expiate the lie, a horrible act of violence will test her resolve to be honest.

Where Jennifer's promise and Olivia's lie intersect, their lives begin to unravel.

Good, but not my favorite of Bryn Greenwood's. I really like Greenwood's unique writing style but the story and characters didn't resonate with me as much as her other books. The ending was a little unsatisfying as well.

Good, but not my fave Greenwood

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

Readers idea of a black southern male accent, was offensive.
The voices for female lead was bad too. They both sounded weak . Difficult to get through.

I was hoping it would be good

Even this book, which is not her best, is well crafted and worth the read. Bryn Greenwood is an unusual and refreshing writer.

Read anything by Greenwood

I can’t stop reading her, everything she writes is impeccable and this story is no exception.

struggled to finish. I kept thinking something profound was going to happen but it never did. synopsis is misleading about the plot and characters.

Boring

you should get a black male to read next time, it was almost offensive

I loved the storyline

story line was good but felt strung along at the end with too many loose ends, I needed to know what realy happened with Olivia's brother and if Jennifer ever told her story and made piece with her advocacy for Gale's daughter and if they ever found the little girl. I feel like it just ended and narration was a little off especially for Ryndal.

a bit of a disappointment after reading more books from this author

Very realistic story. No perfect characters, no perfect ending, just real! Believable!
I will be reading all her books!

Si real! I loved it!

This is more tame than Bryn Greenwood’s other books, but I still loved it. She is such a wonderful storyteller.
