About this listen

Have you ever had a bad day? Sergeant Paul Mitchell had. It was the kind of bad day where nothing went right, everything that could go wrong went wrong, and everyone died.

He knew that was always a possibility in the marines, but it really sucked when it happened to you: it wasn't your fault, and you still took the fall for everything.

With his career dead and buried, he's forced to make it as a freelancer; a jack of all trades but a master of none. Just when he thought life couldn't get any worse a couple of stupid kids proved him wrong...again. Now, the ex-marine needs to find a ship, a crew who won't ask too many questions, get off-world, and disappear into the black. Too bad the women he's signed on with have a few secrets of their own.

Life of a Freelancer contains graphic sexual situations, bad language, intense violence, and a guy doing what he has to in order to survive. You've been warned.

The story is a fun listen but has an annoying habit of going off-tangent wasting several minutes at a time.

Fun but too much filler text

The MC is not a pushover, which is a welcomed change to the meek MCs of other book in this genre. There were a few times I was like "ok, calm down dude". But the characters were well developed and acted. I recommend if u like gritty dystopia-like space setting.

I have been listening to a lot of harem/action/adventure/romance/fantasy style of books and by far this is one of the better ones I have listened to thus far. This book series, so far, has the perfect balance of action/adventure, violence, sex, and humor. I swear there was two parts where I burst out laughing. I just couldn't contain myself. Luckily I am in my own office or else someone might have thought I was nuts hearing me laughing at nothing while I was working.

Now a lot of these books in this style actually have a lot of sex scenes, and often enough they rush into them as well. To me this didn't feel like that. it was a slow roll into it and even then there was plenty of other things going on and it feels incredibly balanced with the rest of the story. Yes there are a couple scenes but he has been mostly in control and hasn't just been banging every one of his costars right away.

Perfect Balance

The attention to environmental details is awesome, could almost see it.
The MC on the other may be old but mentally 15, hope he grows up, well mature some. And just do those VITAMINS contain?

This is a great space opera in the making.

Another great book by G S D'Moore. You will not be disappointed. Also the dual narration really brings the story to life.
