A normal, if not rebellious, human, Cameron Dupree has spent the last three years finding his way through a school of the rich and powerful...literally.
He's surrounded by the supernatural cream of the crop: children of alpha werewolves, banshees with ties to the United Nations, a faerie princess from another realm of reality, and a teenage succubus who might be the scariest, and sexiest, of them all. Everything is going as great as can be for a vanilla human...until one misstep lands him in trouble with a noble of the Unseelie Fae. Caught between the wrath of a Fae Court and the desire of a Succubus Cabal, Cam must fight to survive, and figure out he might not be that normal after all.
Courts and Cabals contains adult situations and supernatural creatures that generally treat humans like s#!t. It's intended for a mature audience.

Some of the mental queues were a little well obvious and the story does strongly push for a relative belief. What I liked most was the constant reality reminders at the right times. What I didn't like was the early mc mental game. It didn't take long to go much better while the ups and downs really take you for a ride the depth of struggles. Thus you have an mc that abides a line of mortality most of which is like a delicate thing.
Enjoyable, fair bit more complex a plot in not the same ways I had expected. Really enjoy it's balence of consistency and just odd chaos. Worthy of sequel, excited to move onto the next simply with what we have. A good amount of detail in the story and mostly uncluttered save previously mentioned beginning which was somewhat unavoidable.
The background of characters does suggest we have a lot to learn still, and the split story was a well done mystery esque design that does payout well.
What an evolving adventure

PERFORMANCE: Brandon Utah did a fine job overall with the narration. That being said the book could of benefited with female voice actor. Some of the female characters came across like a manly construction worker on Friday night trying to sound like a woman while flirting with someone at a drag queen bar. A bit too baritone for my taste.
RECOMMENDATION: While not quite at the level of my absolute favorites (5 stars) this is still a solid listen. Overall this book is a nice introduction to what promises to be a fun series.
