About this listen

Strong-willed Tirzah wants to join her people in driving the enemy from the land of Israel and undergoes training for a secret mission inside the stronghold of Shechem.

But soon after she has infiltrated the ruthless Aramean commander's kitchen, she makes a reckless decision that puts her and her allies in grave danger.

Fresh off the battlefield, Liyam returns home to discover his beloved daughter is dead. After his vow to hunt down her killer leads to months of fruitless pursuit, his last hope is in a family connection that comes with strings attached. Strings that force him to pose as a mercenary and rescue an infuriating woman who refuses to leave her mission uncompleted.

When an opportunity to pave a path to a Hebrew victory arises, can Tirzah convince Liyam to fight alongside her in the refuge city of her birth? Or will Liyam's thirst for vengeance outweigh his duty to his people, his God, and the woman he's come to love?

Great story of courage and forgiveness

I have loved all the books in the Cities of Refuge series. I loved Tirzah, a strong woman who chose to serve Yahweh even when it was dangerous and discouraged. Liyam was a heartbroken and vengeful man who learned the power of forgiveness throughout the story. Their story of spying together and rallying troops during the early days of the Judges was encouraging and brought the reality of the struggle to life.

Great conclusion to the series!

Fast-paced with characters you want to root for. Beautiful character arcs. Themes of forgiveness, family, and bravery.

I think I’ve listened to too many biblical fiction books by this author so they’re kind of blending together 🥲

The plot and how the author weaves the histories of the characters.

I enjoyed the theme of mercy or bitterness throughout this series. That the people struggled to forgive injustice just as we do today

Riveting Story!

Exciting last installment to the city of refuge series! I cannot pick which of the series was my favorite so I am going to start over with the first one again. Beautifully and flawlessly narrated. Connilyn's writing is so descriptive that you quickly become part of the story! Loved it!!

Great Book!!! But...

Great book!!! But... the narrator really needs to learn to change her voice a bit to distinguish which character is speaking. When the same voice is used for all characters, it is very confusing for the listener. With time and practice, she should make a good narrator.

Like Flames in the Night

Such an appropriate title. Great continuation of an outstanding series. I loved the story of Tirzah and Liyam. This book will have you experience some intense emotions, from joy to your heart pounding. This was one of those books I truly hated to end. Hope there will be more in this series. Excellent narrator.

Love this!

Yet again this author does not disappoint. I have read all the books in this series and each time I am wanting more. I like how the book ends with a possible continue to the series. I desperately hope there will be a #5. Connilyn Cossette is one of the most talented writers I have had The opportunity to completely engage myself in her work and storyline. I experienced all the emotions from laughing to crying, getting furious to finding compassion. I am able to weave myself into the story and I love how the author creates an opportunity for us to get a deeper experience of each character. I feel like I have gained new relationships and I am a little sad to have turned the last page. It’s like saying “goodbye for now” to some close friends.

Great finale to a wonderful series

I loved this story. It would have been really incredible to have both a male and female narrator.
