About this listen

Oliver Chase only has two things going for him; an addiction to dating sim RPGs and a spotty mental health history.

Stuck working a dead-end job, another lonely Valentine's Day passes Oliver by. There's a coworker he's kind of into, but irl flirting isn't as easy as choosing the right dialog option and clicking a button, sadly... but what if it was? After a lonely night jackin' it under the influence of Special Californian Gummies™, Oliver awakens to what appears to be a complete psychotic breakdown. System notifications, menus, stats, and so much more RPG crap gets injected into his life faster than you can say, 'I Can't Believe It's Not Schizophrenia'.

Even crazier, Oliver starts earning 'Love Points' through having romantic interactions with certain girls, which can then be spent on skills ranging from passive buffs to reality-warping insanity. He wants to make the most of these new powers, but he won't earn enough to do so if he isn't working multiple angles, and between his chill coworker, his evil boss, and the girl who ruined his life? Well...

It's best to start with the tutorial.

Very unique

A very slow burn middle school romance book. This author has completely captured the airplane crashing into a train on a busy highway. You can not look away. The unique idea and great narration make this a worthy listen

A steady pace, and good build up

Good pacing, and open, but not cliffhanger ending. Has a reasonable main character that has reasonable hang ups.

Loved it.

I love the concept and enjoyed it. Can’t really explain why without spoiling, but I definitely can recommend.

Shockingly good

I didn't expect this to be so good from the story to the well written characters I would definitely give this a shot.

Favorite book this year

What an awesome story the premise is awesome, so unique and fresh. The amount of world building is amazingly well done. I can not wait till the next one.

Utterly Fantastic.

The book has a kind of silly premise, and when you look at the length of it you'll wonder exactly how not only the first part but a whole series based on this premise could be this long. Well, the answer is frankly excellent character's, good writing and character growth that you don't find very often in the genre, or writing in general. I know its a little silly to say that given the premise, but its true.

The book has alot of heart, and i cannot think of any parts of the book i actually disliked. The length is a bit much, but all of it was frankly needed to build up the story, characters and their journey. The narrators did an amazing job, and as someone who read the book version first they did so many of the characters almost exactly how i imagined them in my head while reading.

Seriously, i could go on and on about how much i love this book (both kindle and audio versions!) but instead i'll just recommend you give it a go if you like the sound of it. I can't promise you'll like it but i certainly loved it.

So nice I got it twice

this is such a fun and unique take on LitRPG and I can not get enough. The story is a bit of a slow burn but the set up makes the payoff all the more worthwhile. If you like slice of life romance with a lot of spice, cheesy shannagens, and chicanery I'd definitely recommend.

Sometimes less is more

Loved the book. I like the LitRPG that isn't D&D. Also, the author understands that the build up can be more sexy than a bunch of repeatative overly-explicit content. I can't wait for the next book to come out. I hope the author keeps the flow and doesn't get bogged down in excessive sex and harrem drama as the series continues!

Comforting Relationships

Loved Erin Bateman as the narrator and female vocals while having Alfie Syme do the male vocals. Personally think more books should follow that pattern.

With game like abilities the MC takes time and thought in his decisions. He is a people pleaser but the more you learn about him the better you understand. He isn’t just a pushover however.

There is a lot of character depth and growth along with working through traumas.

All in all. This is a very cozy slice of life with caring characters but the powers to mold reality.
