About this listen

Who doesn't want their mom to play Cupid?

Addison Cooper had planned on an all-expense paid vacation to the Cayman Islands to celebrate her most recent business success. Instead, she's trekking to the outback of Oregon to help a friend of her mother's.

Reclusive novelist Brogan Cavanaugh's new thriller just hit the New York Times Best Seller list. To reward himself, he was planning to spend the summer at his family's fishing cabin until his mom unexpectedly calls in a favor.

Even though moms Libby and Ruby have been best friends since they were college roommates, Addison and Brogan have barely spent time in each other's company. And when they did, things didn't go well.

How will they react when they start to suspect their interfering mothers are setting them up?

Great story but

Great story. I can see it in my head like a movie. But the man’s voice when he imitates others, especially women is horrible. He’s absolutely fine and likable when he’s just being him but when he starts trying to sound like a woman, he just sounds like a kid. Makes some parts cringy.

Great story…

First, Devon did a great job on narrating, however, Wayne made all the female characters sound stupid and “itchy.” Realllllly didn’t like that. Whitney did a superb job of telling the story with a surprise ending! Loved it!

Cute

Cute story about two best friends that are moms that are hoping that their children get together and make some grandchildren. Lots of laughs in between

Interesting & well-written

This was an interesting and cute story. The characters and descriptions had depth. Look forward to reading more about James.

No Connection

I wanted to like this story but it was kind of all over the place. It was more about the mothers than the couple which I guess is ok but there was so much jumping around you never got in deep so you could care about any of the characters. There wasn’t any feeling for me. Like no moments of emotion. I will say that I did smile during the dinner with the clam sauce. But other than that I had to convince myself to finish it.

The reading is not great

I couldn’t finish the book the readers were hard to listen to, especially the guy, it probably would be a good story with different readers though.

Well written, poorly read

The story is well written, the author pulls the listener into the storyline.
There’s a drastic change from the rhythm of the female read to the forced gruffness of the male read, especially when reading as a female character, even worse when reading as the stable hand.
