An essential set of tools and principles for healing your heart, finding love, and loving life.

Finding love can be hard. Being single can feel even harder. In Love Life, world-renowned coach and New York Times bestselling author Matthew Hussey provides a practical roadmap for letting go of past relationships, overcoming the fear of getting left behind, and finding the love we want.

Sometimes it feels like life and love are working against us. Just finding someone we like can be a struggle. Even when we do, we often find they’re not ready, or they want different things. Then there are the internal fears and anxieties that lead us to self-sabotage—that make us indulge the wrong behavior in others, hold back from expressing our needs for fear of losing someone, or overinvest in people and lose ourselves in the process. Love Life sheds light on these common patterns and how to overcome them, by showing us how to adopt new standards, elegantly communicate them, and develop the deepest levels of confidence that underpin them. Like many of us, Hussey has gone through major life changes over the past decade, and he opens up about his experiences, vulnerabilities, and mistakes.

Love Life is about doing love better. More than a book about romantic relationships, Love Life shows us how to take control of each of the major relationships in our lives: our relationship with others, our relationship with ourselves, and our relationship with life itself.

Our love lives have the power to elevate or eradicate the adjacent joy in our lives. Love Life sets you on the path to finding the love of your life, while deepening your love for life.

Hussey's advice is compassionate, wise, and actionable, helping me come out stronger and more self-aware.

Love Life was a lifesaver for me after my recent heartbreak. This book is like a best friend who gives you honest, practical advice when you need it the most. If you're looking to understand and improve your love life, this book is a must-read. Here's how each chapter helped me and my personal take on them:

1. Being Single Is Hard - This chapter hit me. Being single sucks sometimes, and Hussey gets it. He made me feel understood and gave me a fresh perspective on enjoying this phase rather than just enduring it.

2. How to Tell Love Stories - I never realized how much our own narratives shape our relationships. This chapter taught me to rewrite my love story, focusing on the positive and what I've learned instead of dwelling on the past.

3. Retrain Your Instincts - I had some pretty toxic instincts in relationships. Hussey's advices made me aware of my patterns and gave me tools to change them.

4. Beware Avoiders - I’ve dated my share of avoiders. This chapter opened my eyes to the signs and helped me understand why I kept falling for them. Now, I know what to watch out for.

5. Do Not Join a Cult of Two - I’ve lost myself in last relationship. Hussey’s advice on maintaining individuality was a wake-up call. It's so important to keep your own identity in a relationship, and this chapter reminded me of that.

6. Red Flags - We all see red flags but sometimes ignore them. This chapter gave me a checklist of things to be cautious about. It’s like having a cheat sheet for dating smarter.

7. Have Hard Conversations - I used to avoid tough talks. This chapter gave me the confidence to address issues head-on. It’s scary but worth it for the clarity and honesty it brings.

8. Attention Is Not Intention - Just because someone gives you attention doesn’t mean they have good intentions. This chapter helped me see the difference and stop wasting time on the wrong people.

9. Never Satisfied - I realized I was always looking for the next best thing, never appreciating what I had. This chapter taught me to find contentment and stop the endless search for perfection.

10. How to Rewire Your Brain - Changing thought patterns is hard, but Hussey makes it easier. This chapter provided practical steps to reshape my mindset and get out of negative cycles.

11. The Question of Having a Child - A big topic handled with sensitivity. It helped me think deeply about my desires and fears around having kids, giving me a balanced perspective.

12. How to Leave When You Can’t Seem to Leave - Leaving a toxic relationship is tough. This chapter was like a pep talk, giving me the strength to move on and the steps to do it.

13. Identity Confidence - Post-breakup, my confidence was shattered. This chapter helped me rebuild it by focusing on my own worth and identity outside of a relationship.

14. Surviving a Breakup - Hussey’s tips and emotional support were crucial during my breakup. He made me feel less alone and offered practical advice to get through the toughest days.

15. Core Confidence - Building deep confidence is key. This chapter inspired me to work on myself and find a sense of self-worth that isn't dependent on a relationship.

16. Happy Enough - This chapter was about finding peace. It helped me redefine happiness on my terms and focus on what truly matters to me.

Looking inward

I was recently surprised by my husband of 8 years, whom I share 2 children with, is no longer in love with me. I felt blindsided by his revelation and deeply hurt. Listening to Mathew has helped me realize in reality I was not blindsided I was in a state of denial and ignoring the problems within the relationship. As I am peeling away my layers of grief and searching for the roots I have began to realize this needed to happen. I asked myself why do I love my husband? I couldn’t list quality characteristics. I haven’t felt like he had my back or was on my team. I have not been happy to see him in many years. I’ve had to suppress core qualities of myself to survive the relationship. I really haven’t liked him in a very long time. I am grieving the loss of knowing what my future will be. I am ready to look inward and develop self love for the first time. Thank you Mathew, I know I will listen to this again and again.

Excited to finish listening to this book

As I started listening, I realized that I can relate to so much. No one is perfect but as long as we strive to become better than who we were and take action that’s all that matters. This book really helps in so many levels because it all starts with oneself.

Core Confidence ftw :]

I appreciate Matthew’s transparency about his personal story, the offering of practical steps to examining ourselves and others while dating and building relationships, and lastly the emphasis on developing a core confidence. We can always look our best on the outside, which might “get the guy”, but will that find us happiness?

Love the range of depth and practicality in this book! Much needed read for in this season of life. Thank you!

Good Friend

This book, like all of Mathew's content I have consumed sounds like the type of advice you hope a good friend would give. It's honest and fair. It's harsh, but compassionate. Thank you.

Wow! Life Changing.

I rarely leave reviews; however, being newly divorced and it being nearly a year after discovering my husband’s infidelity, this book is just what I needed to push myself over the edge to being truly ok. I have done a lot of work prior to reading this, but there are so many great things about this book that have changed my views for the better. Thank you!
