About this listen

Let’s face it. A broken heart sucks. Divorce sucks. And even though it may be an improvement in your life because your former “love” life was worse, nobody likes going through all the pain, the awkwardness, the limitations, the financial drag, the arguments, the beating on your self-esteem, and so many other complications that come from shattered memories of a broken past. When you were in love, you probably hoped it would last, only to find out that the person you were with was not that glamorous after all.

If you’ve been dumped, signed divorce papers, and are having a hard time coping with this next phase in your life, this audiobook is for you. It’s called Marriage Communication for the sake of the series, but as you may have seen from the subtitle, it’s more so about those who have left marriage or a cohabiting situation of some sort.

So what can this audiobook do for you? You’ll find comfort, empathy, affirmations, tips, coping strategies, and ways to move forward, onward, and into the future with a new purpose. Even if you’re not in this “sad” situation, you may learn from this audiobook or refer it to someone who can put it to better use. But either way, I recommend this guide to everyone who lives in this world, basically, because most people have gone through heartbreak, and separation and divorce are all around us. Therefore, it will be useful, for sure.

Great book. It can really help when you're heartbroken. And trust me, I've been heartbroken a lot. Arguments with your spouse are serious. It's not easy.

I can relate. It's tough when things aren't going well in a relationship. I found some helpful advice. Doesn't solve all my problems, but at least it's good to keep these things in mind.

Not bad

Viola Lamers has addressed some serious concerns when it comes to love and breaking up. It's too bad when things go wrong, but they often do. It's important that we talk about those problems as adults, and that we allow an open discussion. This book has certainly done that.

Not bad at all

It's great to listen to a book such as this one. This deserved my time. Lastly, a book that gives you what you want. Another detail: The narrator sounded so good that I would definitely listen to it in the future. And maybe more than just one time. I simply cannot recall everything that's being said in all these books, so it would be worth reminding myself of what was actually being mentioned.

Really struggled to finish the book. It is full of very general information like....don't drink becase this leads to drunkeness.

Very basic and simple book. i don't recommend it.

narration was aggressive. very repetitive. Great if you are under 35. lots of how to avoid social media.

repetitive

This doesn't talk about communication at all. It is teaching a 18 year old girl how to get over a break up. Nothing to do with marriage. Just light dating break ups. The voice actor sounded like a cheap siri. Scary as hell. Non human inflections

Title is misleading voice actor is scary as hell

I'm not a big fan of callused opinions... and by callused I mean people who easily just give up and stop caring because it's easier than patience and long suffering. the book adopts a sort of perspective that it is more likely the reader is less to blame than the other person. It doesnt always send that message either which is somewhat confusing... it isnt very consistent. also, I'm not a fan of burning sentimental things or being destructive and she actually recommends being destructive as a release. instead of being destructive, why not recommend putting the sentimental items away for 10 years and then coming back to see them to see how far you've come and how much you've grown? Seems healthier to me.

Advice seems callused in some ways

the narrator of this book was emotionless and essentially monotone. I felt like Ferris Buehler teacher read me a text book or the phone book. The book offered me really no real sound advice on how to pick up my pieces and move on from my separation. It is essentially a compiled list of things you would hear from your friends and family on how to get over the loss, full of cliches and pointless drivel. What a waste of my monthly credit!

just a mishmash of words, didn't go anywhere
