Anyone can meditate!

This is a perfect audiobook for a person who wants to learn how to meditate.

Meditation always seemed like something that was too difficult and confusing for me. How would I be able to shut out everything and go into some alternate state? This book taught me that this is not what meditation is. Using engaging stories and simple exercises, Joy Rains guides you through the process of learning to bring your attention to your breath (as an example) to slow down your STUFF (an acronym for everything in your mind.) There are lots of types of meditation included, so you can try and find the ones that work best for you.

After listening to Meditation Illuminated, I can actually meditate!

I highly recommend Meditation Illuminated!

Really Was a Siple Guide for my Busy Mind

I just finished listening to Meditation Illuminated and I wanted to share what a pleasure it was.

I am not someone who has time to meditate. This book not only convinced me I should, but shared techniques for finding time when you have none. This was a great guide to meditation. Rains offers examples of different meditation styles and explains them in an easy to understand way. And the chapters are broken down in such a way that you can go to one section to hear about one small part of the bigger puzzle, or to try one meditation technique, and then can jump to a different chapter if you want to try a different approach.

A really great guide for this newbie.

Love this audiobook

Great way to learn to meditate, with engaging stories and simple descriptions of topics I used to think were confusing before listening to this audiobook. I liked having the author guide me through the different styles of meditations — the progressive muscle relaxation meditation was my favorite!

Written to be an audio-book!

I just finished Meditation Illuminated and if any book was written to be experienced through audio, it's this one! Joy Rains has done the research, knows the topic and is masterful at simplifying the process of mediation, making it accessible and memorable with acronyms (like STUFF - brilliant!) and ABCs. With more than 20 unique meditations, this book offers valuable practice opportunities that makes the concepts come to life. And to hear it all and experience the meditations in the author's own voice is a real gift. I'll return to this book frequently!

A fantastic meditation resource

I cannot recommend this book enough as a simple but effective way to add meditation into your life and daily routine. I found the myriad of guided mediations a rich resource, with enough variation to give even the most meditation-hesitant listener an opportunity to practice in a way that works for them. I listened on 1.2x speed, and found that to be just perfect for me. Very happy I found this book!

Making meditation approachable

So many times I hear people proclaim that meditation takes too much time, their mind is too busy, or it’s too complicated. Joy does a beautiful job of shining light on the simple elegance of meditation to sooth and enlighten us about our selves.

A Perfect Start!

I just loved this audio book by Joy Rains! It is such a wonderful guide for anyone interested in learning to meditate. It is saturated with content to set you off on an easy path . The book provides a clear, logical progression of information in a positive and non threatening manner. Joy reinforces the information with practical and relatable anecdotes, and real life experiences. She has an energetic and engaging voice that is positive and calming. Such a pleasure to listen to! This book will assist you in making the mind-body connection, and providing the clarity of mind, that you have been wanting to achieve!

A wonderful hand-holding experience

I've been trying to meditate for years. I think I've listened to or read more than 20 books on the subject. I just couldn't stick with any set schedule for meditation. But then Joy came along. Full disclosure, I was gifted an audible copy but I am an audible member and would have bought this book if I had not received the gift.

I appreciated the wide variety of meditations offered. It really helps when you might not enjoy the more traditional meditation process. I highly recommend this book.
