About this listen

Adam Winters has enough responsibility as the new head of the local Ghost Hunter Guild without being saddled with the family curse. He’s convinced his recent nightmares and hallucinations will lead to him becoming a psychic rogue — unless he can find a stolen relic and a woman who can read dreamlight.

Marlowe Jones rides into his life on a motorcycle and with a dust bunny at her side. Though a descendant of the rival Arcane family, she’s just what Adam needs: a psychic private investigator and dreamlight reader extraordinaire.

Together, amid the glowing catacombs and steamy underground jungles of Harmony, Adam and Marlowe must break the curse, save the entire underworld — and fight a passion that could destroy them both.

Not sure how i feel about this book

I generally love Harmony books in this case however i ended up very confused as to who was speaking man, woman or rock all seemed to sound the same so conversations were very hard to understand.
Also all the characters seem to be read in monotone as if the narrator had not read the book previously.

Vixen or Heroine?

In all, it was a good story and a good end to the Burning Lamp trilogy. I was turned off at first by the new narrator - it's not the same as most of the Jayne Castle books. I got used to the narrator, but I still got mixed signals. Most of the heroines in Jayne Castle/Jayne Ann Krentz/Amanda Quick novels are strong women. The narrator in this story turned every female in the story into a sex kitten. Annoying at first, but after I got in to the story it didn't bother me as much. Conclusion - good story, but the sex oozing from the heroine's voice was a distraction. Not in a good way, either.

great

I have read and listened to this book several times and it never gets old. I especially like the mention of previous characters in the trilogy since this is the final book and from other books. Makes me want to read them again also. JAK has a talent for paranormal stories that are just believable enough. Since I own all the series I prefer to read in cronilogical order of series rather than publish date. just my choice, all good no matter what order or series. 2018

Liked the main characters

I liked this book better than the recent Harmony novels, because both the female and male leads were likable and straight forward.

I have been reading this series on and off and out of order and felt a keen need to read through the books in order. It's not like you couldn't enjoy the book without the knowledge, but it makes better sense and adds more substance to the story.

Big Jayne Fan...

Would you consider the audio edition of Midnight Crystal to be better than the print version?

I have read all of the Jayne Castle/Jayne Ann Krentz books. While formulaic, they are fun. So, recently I decided to try some of them in audiobook format. I have to say, I'm glad I did. The narrator brings a new sense of enjoyment to the series.

Overall good performance

Rating should be 4.5 instead of 4. The reader's lisp was a little distracting at times.

Jayne 5, Tanya 4, Tanya's male voice 1

I really liked the book, but... I cringed every time I realized the male was speaking. The voice Eby used for the male was still very feminine. Maybe I'm not being fair, because I just got through listening to Natalie Ross in After the Night, now that was a very sexy male voice delivered by a female. The book was a good wrap up of this trilogy. Was worth the credit.

Midnight Crystal

I love anything that Jayne Krentz writes. I have been reading her books since the 80's. This was great also. Got to tell you that I love dust bunnies and they are amazing little creatures. These futuristic stories are so interesting.

confused

Would you listen to another book narrated by Tanya Eby?

Tanya is ok, she's not my favorite, but definitely not on the bottom. So yes, I will listen to more or her.

Any additional comments?

I think like allot of people, I get really confused on the timeline of Jayne Castle/Amanda Quick/ Jayne anne Krentz. I try to read books in order, but how do you have a series within a series within a series and know where to start? I've listened to like 5 or 6 different ones and I like them, but I still don't know if they were a beginning, middle, or ending.

ANOTHER GREAT ARCANE BOOK

I liked this book, but then I like all the sci fi books, and the arcane books have been quite entertaining.
